We bid on this Napa package for a charitable auction, and were excited that there were many different things included in this package. If we only knew!!! We had an awesome time with our group of 10 because of this experience. We started the day at the Napa Farmer's Market where Julie gave us tips and techniques to select the best produce, fruits, cheeses, meats and spices that we would be using when we prepared our gourmet meal. She advised us not only on the foods we would purchase, but also how to select, new and unusual items and some of the best vendors. We then traveled to a winery to learn how to pair wines for our menu, and did a tasting at Bourassa Vineyards to select the best wines. With wine in tow, we learned about the large kitchen, the tools and our recipes for the meal. We teamed up men and women, and started the preparation... we laughed, prepared, learned NEW things, sipped wine and as a team delivered a MOST DELICIOUS meal for ourselves. The tables were already set, each small group had prep stations and ingredients and we started to work. It was so much fun and the highlight of our 4 days in Napa. I would recommend this to everyone, it was a great use of our time, and we probably would never have heard of it except for our Winspire travel package. We would do it ALL over again. Thank you SO much, Julie... this was a most memorable experience!!

We had a wonderful time in our cooking class. We learned some new recipes, tried new food, and would definitely consider taking another class. The only thing if we took a 2nd class, we wouldn't want to spend so long at Oxbow. And, we definitely appreciated Julie's pre-class instructions suggesting we arrive early and eat breakfast at Oxbow. We went to Model Bakery and really enjoyed our food. We even went back after the class and got some goodies for the next morning when we had to head to the airport.

We had a wonderful time start to finish with Julie. She is a wonderful teacher who inspired us to stretch our culinary wings. We were extra lucky to have the opportunity to visit the farmer’s market first so that Julie could select what we needed. If you go cook (and east) with Julie, skip breakfast!

I can sum up Cooking With Julie in one word: Absolutely Fantastic! (ok, two words) This wasn’t just a cooking class, it was SO much more! Julie took us through the entire process, from shopping for the best produce and products, to preparation, to cooking and presentation. And after leaving the market it was all done in her fabulous home kitchen. It was so much more than we expected, and we highly recommend Cooking With Julia!

My mum and I went on Julie's Oxbow Market tour and cooking class in Napa and it was a fantastic day. She taught us all about the local produce at the market before we went back to her house and cooked an amazing 3 course lunch. The recipes were fun and not too difficult, i've already gone home and cooked one of her delicious side dishes.

This was part of a charity auction item we 'won'. I do love cooking, farmers markets and it was a nice break from visiting wineries.
I love wandering through farmers markets and we got to visit two. Julie clearly walks the talk as she was greeted by name at each stand we visited.
Farmers Market duties completed, we headed to her house. Beautiful, light, bright and well-stocked, her Sous Chef, Alicia had everything prepped and divided for us. EVERYONE washes their hands, learns how/where to handle the knives, divide into teams and we're off.
It was a multi-course, ambitious meal that required making EVERYTHING from scratch. A challenge that we were able to achieve!! Julie kept her cool, taught, answered questions and kept the wine flowing.
I cook a fair bit and made a point of selecting a task I don't usually do because I did want to learn something new. Here's where I fess up and admit I made sure to stay away from the pasta making. I've done that before and it's a lot of work!!
Her backyard is stunning and it was quite lovely to get a real opportunity to chat with the others and Julie.
BONUS: you get to keep your, 'Cooking With Julie' apron so you can remember the fun at a later date.

Planning a girl's trip I found Cooking with Julie on a search for cooking classes in Napa. We were so glad we chose Julie's class. From shopping the farmer's market (I now want to move to Napa just so I can shop there) to cooking and eating the meal, it was a great choice. We learned about spices, produce and some new techniques. The group of 8 worked well together. It was a fun and it was a memorable day.

I lost my mother in early December. With that and going through the holidays without her I wanted to do something just for me. She always told me to treat myself and so one of my passions is cooking and being a major foody fan. This trip was the perfect start to the new year. Great food, instruction, laughs, and good company. I thank Ms. Julie and her sous chef Lisa for a wonderful experience. I will be back in the near future.

If you have the time and want a diversion from winery visits, spend the day cooking with Julie. We had a very enjoyable day starting at the farmers market in St Helena. We arrived a little early and had time for coffee and pastries. We then met Julie and the others participating in the class. After introductions and an overview of the menu we visited several vendor stands to select our ingredients. Bring cash - we bought hot sauce, a coffee rub, and Meyer lemon marmalade to bring home and picked up a couple of treats as well. Then we were off to Dean & Deluca for cheese, olives, and saucisson, followed by a winery stop for a tasting and to pick up wine for our meal. We traveled to Julie's home where we each helped prepare part of our meal while receiving instructions, tips, and guidance from Julie, sipping wine and snacking on antipasti. Afterwards we enjoyed the late afternoon 3 course meal (delicious) we had prepared. You will want to plan a light late dinner that day or skip it altogether! Reserve your spot well in advance, there were 8 in our group.

I’ll admit. It’s a gamble to put faith into an 8-hour cooking class while visiting someplace as special as Napa Valley. I’m not a die-hard foodie but Chef Julie’s class might just make you one.
The class hits on so many different elements of the culinary world, that in the end, you will have that same satisfying feeling as reading a good book. The question is not if you’re going to sign up once, but how many times will you return?
