We had a wonderful time in our cooking class. We learned some new recipes, tried new food, and would definitely consider taking another class. The only thing if we took a 2nd class, we wouldn't want to spend so long at Oxbow. And, we definitely appreciated Julie's pre-class instructions suggesting we arrive early and eat breakfast at Oxbow. We went to Model Bakery and really enjoyed our food. We even went back after the class and got some goodies for the next morning when we had to head to the airport.

We were visiting Napa and came with our family. My son enjoys cooking and I was looking for some different things to do, since half our family are not big wine drinkers. I booked this in advance and it was a wonderful experience! We first met at The Farmers Market and then we to a commercial kitchen facility to cook our recipes. Julie gave us a lot of good instruction before we started cooking! We all had partners and were in charge of creating our recipe for everyone else in the group. After we all followed our particular recipes, we sat and ate as a group. This was so much fun! We all enjoyed every minute of it and I am not a big cook! We learned so many things and the food was amazing! I highly recommend doing this if you are in the Napa area! It is also a great team building project for everyone to enjoy. She has a lot of experience and also explained how to purchase from the market. Everything was A++++. Thank you for the great experience and memories in Napa. Would do this again.

I cook a lot and even make jam so I think I know my way around the kitchen. However shopping and cooking with Julie enlightened me in many areas. She showed us round fruits and veggies in the market and shortcuts in the kitchen. Our luncheon was delicious and in a lovely setting. We found out that she does cooking in Europe also.

I can't say good enough things about this experience. Julie was an amazing host that helped bring together 8 people from different backgrounds through an exciting journey. My wife and I are not experienced chef's, but we picked up a lot of tips and techniques and are excited to bring them home to our family. Will definitely plan our next trip to Napa around one of "Cooking with Julie" events. Thank you Julie!!!!

Based upon the exceptional recommendations in TripAdvisor, we signed up for a “Cooking with Julie” class. We had the best time so thank you TripAdvisor. We met Julie at the Oxbow Market in Napa where she taught us about produce selections, cooking oils, cheese and even salt (who knew there is more than Morton’s salt). Then we took our purchases back to the kitchen along with some wine, and with Julie’s expert guidance, created an exceptional meal. Julie is fun, knowledgeable, and patient (I can attest to her patience). We had a wonderful day and we recommend Julie's class for anyone -- those with significant knowledge in the kitchen and those with much less experience like me. You will have a great time.

It was such a pleasure dealing with Julie from the first booking experience to the last bite and sip. We laughed, we cried and 8 of us cooked ate and drank. We learned new things about tools, cutting, baking, sautéing and walked away with amazing memories of a great time! Just do it!

My best friend and I met in Napa for the week, and Julie’s cooking class was on our agenda. I really enjoyed the comprehensive experience, from purchasing the ingredients to plating the meal, that she provided.
I fell in love with the Oxbow Farmers Market! Julie took us to almost every vendor and gave us an in-depth tutorial on the products available. I learned so much while getting hands/taste buds-on experience!
Cooking in Julie’s well equipped kitchen was pleasant. She provided a variety of tasty snacks to nosh on while we prepped our dishes. She picked a fairly classical French menu, playing to her background and training. We had a butternut squash soup, aged steak with Bearnaise and celery mashed potatoes. For dessert, we made an almond cookie tart and a Buddha’s Hand ice cream that was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I appreciated learning new cooking techniques (I’m a reasonably good cook on my own) as well as how to rescue a separated Bearnaise. My only critique, and this is minor, is that it would have been nice to have a fresh vegetable and/or small salad to accompany our tasty meal!
Julie kept things comfortable and intimate throughout the day. We only had 4 people in our class, which helped make the experience more personal. Julie continues to make herself available via email—she immediately responded to my query for some recipes that weren’t on the menu that day.
I highly recommend this class to anyone who loves not only good food but also an in-depth culinary experience!

I took one of Julie's market and cooking classes in Napa just before going on an amazing gastronomic trip to Emilia-Romagna in Italy. Absolutely fabulous!!! The class introduced me to the wonders of nature available for consumption in Napa. Then the trip allowed us to learn more about the wonders of Parmegiano Reggiano, prosciutto, truffles, balsamic vinegar, tortellini and other regional pastas. The trip was fantastic!!!
Highly recommend anything Julie is associated with.

I surprised my mom with this class in Napa and we both loved it! Julie gave us some great tips and helped us find some great goodies at the farmers market! The class itself was also incredible! She reviewed all the recipes with us and showed us her techniques and tricks and then we each paired up and made a recipe. The menu was fantastic and I look forward to doing it again!

I loved this experience so much that I recently took another one of Julie’s classes ~ this one starting at the St.Helena Farmer’s Market. Even though I live in the Bay Area, I had never been to this particular Farmer’s Market and it was like I had left and landed in France, on vacation.
Julie’s classes are well organized and fun. Even if you aren’t a big foodie, you’ll end up learning something new about food and about cooking. I highly recommend this as an alternative to a day of wine tasting when you’re visiting the Napa Valley.

Hi,
The menu is generally decided the day before when I everyone’s food issues. When you sign up on line you will have a pop-up questionnaire. This is where you would indicate any food issues. Thanks and I hope to see you on class. Julie

Hi , my husband and I are planning a trip to Napa June 28-July 2. We might be interested in a cooking class nearby. The calendar shows St Helena but I thought you are located in Napa. Will we travel? I am looking for maybe a class for italian food as well as a dessert. Do you offer anything like that? If so what is the time schedule and cost please?

HI Terri, On Friday's the class meets in St. Helena since that is where the farmer's market is located, and Tuesday's it's in Napa. The cooking part of the class takes place in Napa. The class is about 6 hours and the menus are built around seasonal produce, and based on Mediterranean recipes which includes plenty of Italian. The cost is $235 per person. My website has more information. Hope to see you this summer, Julie

My sister is celebrating her 60th birthday and we are taking her to Napa. She is a wonderful cook and is always wanting to learn more and your class would be a wonderful surprise for her. There will be 6 of us who would love to take your class. We are arriving in Napa on March 1 and celebrating her birthday on the 2nd. We would like to sign up for a class on March 3, 4 or 5. Do you have any classes available those days?

Hi!
I am not Julie either, but we had a great experience. Julie is really fun and knowledgeable about all sorts of food groups. Her tour of the Farmers Market before we began cooking was fabulous! I would recommend this as an activity for your group.
Is there a website? How do I know which classes are offered or is it all private. There are 5 of us in Napa at the end of July and would love a to have a hands on cooking class and a trip to the market with Julie.
Thanks
Maryellen
