One of Napa's classic wine estates, Trefethen is a hidden gem. Easy to find, but only if you're looking, our entry is on Oak Knoll Avenue, tucked away from the crowds of Highway 29. John Trefethen used to land his plane on the driveway during runs through the middle of our vineyard, over the ground we have tended for over 40 years. Located at the grand entrance to Napa Valley, we are one of Napa's classic family wine estates. Stunning valley and vineyards vistas surround guests as they sample distinctive hand crafted estate wines. (Reservations required). We look forward to welcoming you.

I have been a member of Trefethen Winery for over 30 years, in those years I have upgraded my membership. I feel they have the best reds in their reserves and the top red in Halo. They bend over backwards to make our visits a top experience

We were at this winery several months ago without reservations, and were not able to be seated on this busy day. We were impressed that they still gave us a taste of two wines without charging us. We appreciated their gesture, so returned, this time with a reservation. We were seated promptly, and were treated to a very knowledgeable and... More

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We greatly appreciate both of your great reviews of your visits to Trefethen. It has been a challenge being in the tent for the last few months so we are so very grateful when we read such great reviews. Hopefully, by your next visit to Napa, we can host you in the Villa. Trefethen winery is a favorite to revisit and our recent stop at the temporary tent reception area was no exception. We read about and followed the events of the earthquake and damage to the historic building, and Michael - always gracious - was kind enough to walk us around the winery to show us the reconstruction. Wines tasted were excellent... More

Dear MDVR, Thank you for your amazing support of Trefethen and our wines. Your review made our day! We shared it with Michael as well. You better start planning your next trip as we are moving the visitor center from the tent into a Trefethen family home in the garden - hopefully by January. When the historic winery is fully... Trefethen is one of our favorite places to go. We have been coming to Napa Valley for over 25 years, and have visited many wineries. It is always good to see lots of wineries to get the spin on different areas of Napa Valley and different approaches to wine making. However, if you have limited time, or have never been... More

Despite the rebuild and having to taste wine in a tent, they have really made the best of the situation they find themselves in. Our server was truly a word smith. He could make burnt butter sound delicious! We tasted 5 wines and they were great! If I had room in my luggage, I would definitely be taking a bottle... More

Since the earthquake their normal tasting room has become a comfortable, air conditioned tent. This has not affected the hospitality or the professionalism you find here. You just need to make a booking in advance.

We have visited Trefethen twice, once in 2013 and again this fall (2015), as it is a favourite wine of ours. Because of earthquake damage to their main building in 2014, it is closed for repair and this has affected the experience there quite dramatically. Tasting now takes place in a tent on the grounds. Wine for us is a... More

We have loved these wines for many years, but had never been to their tasting room before. We were in the area and chanced to stop by even though we had no reservation. The main building was damaged by the earthquake, and the tasting room is in a tent, which has been made very comfortable. The room was very crowded,... More
