This is my second time on the wine train. The overall experience was very good, the staff were very helpful and happy to make an necessary accommodations. The food was very good and well prepared. As expressed in some reviews it is on the expensive side, but when you break it down by train ride, food, wine, meal, and dessert... More

This was on my "bucket" list and I finally got there! After a harrowing trip to get there--that is along story!" ---we finally arrived at our destination and wasn't disappointed!! We, along with our group" sat in the Vista Dome while we ate our dinner. Starting out with champagne--I knew we were off to a good start. The food was... More

One word for this - CRAP!!! There are far better wine tours in Napa for less money. The train basically runs along a hwy as opposed to vineyards, so not that scenic. The food was mediocre and you were forced fed as opposed to having a relaxing journey enjoying food and wine. Spend your money elsewhere!

We picked the Ambassador Tour which was from 10am-4pm and included stops at two wineries. We were served lunch in a beautiful antique dining car and sat with another fellow traveler. We were treated to a 3 course meal with choice of appetizer, main course and dessert. I enjoyed asparagus soup, ahi tuna and chocolate mousse. We were then treated... More

We were celebrating my husband's retirement from working for other people, so splurged on the Vista Dome experience. It was first rate from start to finish. We were on the dinner train, which is up and back only with no stopping at wineries. We brought our own wine from a tasting earlier in the day and paid a modest $15... More

I grew up riding the rails, and really enjoyed the Wine Train. We took the 3-hour out-and-back lunch trip, but not the side trips to the wineries - we visited a couple of those on our own. This is the kind of excursion that people of all ages On the Train, the food was excellent and the service attentive. As... More

Heard great things about the train, sadly the experience was disappointing to say the least. Paid for the Ambassador experience, so slightly over $500 for 2 people, not even close to being worth the money. The food was no better than airplane food. Received a glass of complimentary wine upon entering, but had to pay for any additional wine/specialty coffee... More

Issues: 1. If you are a vegetarian, don't waste your time here. Train doesn't really pass through scenic route worth the price and food isn't great enough to spend that much. Customer service told its a made to order but really its not and options are very very limited. 2. Lost my daughter's bracelet during dinner at the dinner table... More
