Beautiful!!

Such a beautiful area. Hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, boating, swimming and so much more. Only disappointment...There is no Whiskeytown town.

Whiskeytown Lake and its surrounding protected woodlands can take you months to explore. I have been in Redding for 4 months and have not seen everything I wanted to see. If you are a hiker or mountain bike lover, the trails surrounding Whiskeytown Lake are nothing short of amazing. I have documented many trails on TripAdvisor, so check them out... More

I was there in July and the lake was still full! Popular beach area near where Brandy Creek enters the lake with a marina nearby. Gold mining history at Camden House and El Dorado mine/stamp mill (short hike). Hikes to waterfalls (I went to Crystal Creek and Boulder Creek Falls (see pictures)). Pretty area, but it is hot in the... More

Stopped by the Ranger station for a map hunting for a picnic rest stop driving north on I-5, unfortunately most areas seem to have almost no lake. I've driven this road many times and was with older relatives (in their 80's) who have been coming through here since the 1930's; however, this was the lowest any of us have ever... More

Whiskeytown lake is nothing less than Beautiful, in the summer it is full of crystal clear coolish water, nice beaches..albeit not natural sand as it is a man made reservoir, except the public beach areas. Some shade trees! By far the best lake in Northern California, Trinity and Shasta are mud holes in Comparison, the only thing to consider is... More

Enjoyed the view of the lake and the memorial to John F Kennedy, the location of his last dedication before his assassination. A nice little gift shop with very friendly and helpful staff. We came back another day to rent a pontoon boat at the local marina...now that was a wonderful experience! A hot sunny afternoon cursing around the gorgeous... More

One afternoon I spend on a lovely beach at whiskey town lake. What a lovely and peaceful place. Very friendly people were there and everybody seemed to be very chilled and relaxed. Loved this place. Geese family walking on my blanket really nice...

We had a great day on the water. The only down side was the wait at the boat launch both coming and going.

Beautiful scenery. Wonderful trails, variety of easy to difficult. Public restrooms available at most trails. Clear water, and some lovely beach areas. Highly recommend for a morning/afternoon out.

My favorite lake in this area is Whiskeytown. So clean and cold, my family has enjoyed many wonderful days at this local treasure!
