We were fortunate to be the only guests on board today, so we had plenty of opportunity to learn from and talk to Wendy and Helena. They were warm, friendly and great to spend an hour and a half with. We learned about the slough, efforts to protect it, and of course the birds and marine mammals that make the area so special. It’s such a beautiful and calm setting, and it was pretty much just us and some kayakers.

Wendy, as captain, skillfully maneuvered us, and was quick to turn off the motor (is that what electric boats have?) when we’d have an otter or sea lion sighting, to give us a better chance to have it come closer. Helena shared interesting information about the amazing variety of birds and other fun facts about the animals. I have a new appreciation for pelicans!

In addition to enjoying the physical space of the clean and simple catamaran, we were really glad to support a new tour company that uses an electric vessel. We’d happily go out again with this company when we’re back in the area.

This was my Mother’s Day gift to myself & my mom. I’ve kayaked this slough, about 10 years ago & decided that I didn’t want to have hook my mom up to my kayak to get her back out when the wind picked up. It was so great to go so far down into the slough. Bring your binoculars ask Wyatt the naturalist every question you can think off (my 8 year old did) and have a great time. You will see the wildlife you are hoping to see at a distance that isn’t distressing to them. Will book again, definitely.

Super quiet and eco friendly electric catamaran. Female captain and naturalist guide super knowledgeable and funny and patient with a boat full of birding nerds. Amazing wildlife, tons of baby otters. Just a blast for novices, bird nerds, families. Highly recommended.

This is the best boat tour on the Elkhorn Slough you could do. The specially built electric catamaran glides across the water hardly disturbing the wildlife and thats what your here to see. The folks here at Monterey Bay Eco Tours are friendly and good fun. They always have a naturalist and ours was Aaron who really knew his stuff. It can get very chilly out on the water so wear layers. We saw so many sea otters and seals we lots count. We also saw a murmuration of Godwits which was superb. If you want a small tour run by people who care book with Monterey Bay Eco Tours. You will not regret it.

A true Eco friendly way to see the vast Elkhorn Slough area and all its abundant wildlife that makes the slough its home. Took the trip today 9/16 with only 4 persons on the boat one of which was Capt. Wendy's own dental hygienist from Monterey. Electric powered catamaran was a very peaceful way to tour, not upsetting the balance of nature and letting the wildlife go on about their way. A truly knowledgeable naturist Josh was on board to identify the 20+ bird species that make this area their home along with variety of local sea creatures that are always active and close to the boat for good viewing

Really great trip; Aaron was incredibly knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions we had - both about Elkhorn Slough and the wider area, which was helpful for planning our trip. Would definitely recommend to others, and we saw a great variety of wildlife - a highlight was the sea otter cubs!

Our family really enjoyed the experience! Wildlife viewing included lots of birds, otters, harbor seals, CA sea lions and more! The naturalist on board was very knowledgeable of the area!

This is a newer electric boat that was very comfortable. We had room to move around and the crew thoughtfully offered blankets when the wind picked up and had extra binoculars.

Three generations of our family agree that this tour is the the best! The staff was knowledgeable and fun, and they made the experience very special. We saw so much wildlife, including otters, seals, sea lions, and pelicans. We all learned about how precious the habitats for these animals are. My grandson, who had to miss science camp due to COVID cancellation, said that he felt like he had gotten his own personal science camp experience.

We highly recommend this wonderful tour!! It's not the only one which explores Elkhorn Slough, but after passing another company's crowded "safari boat" we were even happier we chose El Cat Wildlife Eco Tour.

The catamaran is clean and roomy. There's even a small toilet room available--hurray! The length of the trip---1.5 hours--was perfect.

The trip was educational and relaxing. Naturalist/ocean paleontolgist Aaron told interesting stories, pointing out and explaining many bird, sea lions, and otters we'd have missed. Captain Marina (perfect name!) was fantastic! We especially appreciated her kindness and humor while interacting with the 6 yr old member of our group.

Thanks to owner Wendy, who answered questions via phone before we booked a month ago. Thank you for building El Cat! Great that this is the first fully-electric W. Coast boat to be Coast Guard certified!

For years, our family has traveled to the Monterey Bay area. Until now, Moss Landing was merely a place with big power plant towers off Hwy One. We are so glad to have finally gone "behind the scenes"!

The safari cruise aboard the beautiful and quiet electric cat is a dream. What a way to enjoy nature. Sneaking up on the otters and seals, numerous birds is a real pleasant way to observe them without being a threat or annoyance to them. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable and provide a great experience. Well worth the cost.
