We were fortunate to be the only guests on board today, so we had plenty of opportunity to learn from and talk to Wendy and Helena. They were warm, friendly and great to spend an hour and a half with. We learned about the slough, efforts to protect it, and of course the birds and marine mammals that make the area so special. It’s such a beautiful and calm setting, and it was pretty much just us and some kayakers.

Wendy, as captain, skillfully maneuvered us, and was quick to turn off the motor (is that what electric boats have?) when we’d have an otter or sea lion sighting, to give us a better chance to have it come closer. Helena shared interesting information about the amazing variety of birds and other fun facts about the animals. I have a new appreciation for pelicans!

In addition to enjoying the physical space of the clean and simple catamaran, we were really glad to support a new tour company that uses an electric vessel. We’d happily go out again with this company when we’re back in the area.

This was my Mother’s Day gift to myself & my mom. I’ve kayaked this slough, about 10 years ago & decided that I didn’t want to have hook my mom up to my kayak to get her back out when the wind picked up. It was so great to go so far down into the slough. Bring your binoculars ask Wyatt the naturalist every question you can think off (my 8 year old did) and have a great time. You will see the wildlife you are hoping to see at a distance that isn’t distressing to them. Will book again, definitely.

Super quiet and eco friendly electric catamaran. Female captain and naturalist guide super knowledgeable and funny and patient with a boat full of birding nerds. Amazing wildlife, tons of baby otters. Just a blast for novices, bird nerds, families. Highly recommended.

This is the best boat tour on the Elkhorn Slough you could do. The specially built electric catamaran glides across the water hardly disturbing the wildlife and thats what your here to see. The folks here at Monterey Bay Eco Tours are friendly and good fun. They always have a naturalist and ours was Aaron who really knew his stuff. It can get very chilly out on the water so wear layers. We saw so many sea otters and seals we lots count. We also saw a murmuration of Godwits which was superb. If you want a small tour run by people who care book with Monterey Bay Eco Tours. You will not regret it.

A true Eco friendly way to see the vast Elkhorn Slough area and all its abundant wildlife that makes the slough its home. Took the trip today 9/16 with only 4 persons on the boat one of which was Capt. Wendy's own dental hygienist from Monterey. Electric powered catamaran was a very peaceful way to tour, not upsetting the balance of nature and letting the wildlife go on about their way. A truly knowledgeable naturist Josh was on board to identify the 20+ bird species that make this area their home along with variety of local sea creatures that are always active and close to the boat for good viewing

The tour is short (1.45 hrs) but informative and well worth taking. You learn a bit about the history of ML, conservation efforts, and the many species of mammal, fish and bird in the area. Recommend.

We had an incredibly good experience on this tour! The catamaran was new and silent, we were not packed in, and the guide interesting and knowledgeable. Really great captain. Really neat launching location too. We had such a good time!

Our time on this tour was a highlight of our trip! We brought our 2 and 3 year old grandchildren and they really enjoyed it as well! The water was flat and it was so quiet. We saw so many birds, seals, sea lions and otters up close! Bring your binoculars for an even better look! The little ones enjoyed borrowing the homemade binoculars on board and were able to walk around the boat without any worry as the sides are as tall as they are. We will definitely be back for another tour with this company on our next visit! Thank you Marina and Wyatt!

My friend and I took an afternoon tour yesterday and first I just want to highlight that this is a very accessible boat! I use a walker and sometimes a chair and Rachel and Joey were so welcoming and helpful and made me feel incredibly safe. They had a ramp to get onto the boat and the aisle on the boat was wide enough for my chair. Rachel and Joey were both incredibly informative and engaged and gave us a lot of the history of the region and told us about the research that scientists are doing. I live nearby and come to the slough a lot for birdwatching but I felt like I got to know so much more about it than I ever could have on my own. It was great. And yes, there were so many otters!

An amazing trip I am still talking about. The boat was quiet and stable--we walked around the boat throughout the tour, to see the wildlife on both sides. My 85 year old mother in law enjoyed the trip as much as the children on the boat, as well as all of us in between. The naturalist shared a wealth on information an answered all the questions on the boat--and there were many! As a native born Californian, I feel like I have a new appreciation for the wildlife here, its challenges, as well as more knowledge about Monterey in general. So fun!
