Wonderful walk for humans and dogs

My wife and I walked with our two Alaskan Malamutes from Fisherman's Wharf to Lovers Point and back. About 5 miles round trip. This was on a weekday from about 8am to 11am so it... read more

Take the trail from Fisherman's Wharf toward Pacific Grove. This trail is beautiful and wide enough to accommodate both pedestrians and cyclists. The path is lighted after sundown and popular both day and night. Breathe the fresh sea air, listen to the waves' crashing and the seagulls' songs, and view the sea and rocky shores. Odds are, you'll even see... More

My wife and I walked with our two Alaskan Malamutes from Fisherman's Wharf to Lovers Point and back. About 5 miles round trip. This was on a weekday from about 8am to 11am so it was not too crowded and the weather was nice and cool. There are bikes and strollers on the trail but everyone was very courteous and... More

The Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail is a true treasure. It provides a walking and biking trail near the town and along the coast taking you from Monetary to Pacific Grove and beyond in both directions. Seals and sea otters are easily seen from the trail and the rocks and waves are just beautiful. The trail used to be a train... More

Family and I came here over around the 4th July weekend after visiting the aquarium. Embarrassingly this was the first time that I've been to this trail despite visiting Monterey Cannery row area many times over the decades. I found the trail after looking for new things to do at Monterey. We did not walk the entire stretch of the... More

Monterey is pedestrian friendly and the coastal trail is a big part of it. Whether biking or walking the trail is a great way to enjoy the scenery and get access Lover's Point, the beaches, Cannery Row, the Coast Guard pier, Fisherman's Wharf, and Lake El Estero. The people watching can't be beat. Traffic along Del Monte and Lighthouse can... More

With beautiful views of the Monterey peninsula. I wasn't too keen on sharing the trail with bicycles, since you had to be constantly on guard, detracting from enjoying all the sights.

Me and my husband enjoyed a nice evening walk along the trail, as it was about 7:30 or so we easily found parking alongside the trail. We were amazed by the rugged beauty, Monterey Bay is just too amazing! I love taking pics so this was a great place for those memorable shots of my husband climbing up and down... More

Beautiful views - but as a walker be sure to observe the signs and walk on the dirt beside the paved path- which is for bikers and surreys. Beach House restaurant in Pacific Grove has a great view - so if all that exercise makes you hungry - be sure to stop there for lunch or dinner. Downtown is only... More

Wife, daughter, and I walked from El Estero Park to the Aquarium. Always peaceful and beautiful. Great views of the Bay and on clear days you can see up the coast to Moss Landing and sometimes even Santa Cruz. Always cool to see the harbor seals and otters swimming around. Actual path is in great shape and has lots of... More

The trail is hard to follow in places. Lots of street crossings; truly a recreational trail with lots of families and rented pedicabs; a slow ride. BUT on a clear day ... lots of photo ops and friendly people. rode from hotel up to Sand City then down to Asilomar back to hotel. a good way to enjoy Monterey
