We visited Monterey, Pacific Grove and Carmel on the Monterey Peninsula. We walked the recreational trail and the coastline is stunning. So much wildlife to see by the water's edge - cormorants, snowy egrets, pelicans and even mule deer at the Pacific Grove end. At Monterey you have the sea lions and the sea otters and more Pelicans and sea... More

We were visiting Monterey and walked along this trail for a short bit. It was later in the evening and, being from out of town, were a bit concerned about safety after dark. We needn't have worried - there were families, couples with dogs, cyclists, skateboarders all using the trail. It appeared that everyone was respectful of the others on... More

This pedestrian / bicycle trail runs for several miles along the coast. Originally, when the sardine canneries were operating, a railroad ran along this right-of-way to deliver empty cans and pick-up full cans of sardines. Fortunately, it was converted to a pleasant trail.

My wife and I ride our bikes from Marina to Asilomar nearly once/week... we have lived in the area for over 30 years... we have done a great deal of travelling (which is to say, we've been to many amazing places)... and we still pinch ourselves that have daily access to this incredible path along the Monterey Bay. There are... More

It can take you from Pacific Grove, Lovers Point, all the way to Ft. Ord park at the north end. It has great views of the Bay as you walk or ride or run along. You might want to watch out for the local bikers. They can get kinda testy in crtain areas. It gets crowded by the wharf and... More

Basically a paved bike trail that hugs the coast and runs through Cannery Row. Beautiful views and plenty to do and see. You can walk it, or bike it. Bike rentals are a great option.

We rented a bike for 6 and rode from cannery row to lovers point. My little one and teenagers loved it.

It can get a bit crowded especially on the weekend but it's fun, you can walk for hours by the coast, appreciating the scenery and different animals that cross your path. This is good all year-round as temperatures are very mild in Monterey during the winter (and it can be cold during the summer)

A bike ride along the coast was great fun. You get the whole mix of busy and quite parts along the way. Saw deer, seals and birds. I wish we had tried the snorkelling at Lovers' Point.
