we've used them 2 or 3 times in the past. this time we used them during covid Memorial Day . we elected for kayaking on Monterey Bay off mcabee beach for 1 hour at 20$ per person. easy rental, 1 hour rental was enough to get experience and peacefulness of bay in morning. service was fair since young staff was somewhat confused for availability of kayak at beach location. however we picked beach bc its an easy launch and return. overall would do it again if they offer convenient beach launch for those at stay near cannery row.

We did their tandem kayak rental - a very good deal for a full day rental at $60. I took off a star because it was a little disorganized in the beginning. I booked my rental online 2 days in advance, and I called them the day of to say we would be 5 minutes late and they seemed confused as to what I was talking about (I don't think they realized they had a rental booked that morning at the specific location I indicated). So we got there and no one was there yet, we had to wait 10 minutes or so before an employee came to unlock the door to hook us up with the rental. She seemed like she was in a rush, but was very nice and showed us the basics of kayaking. We went off on our own after that and had a perfect experience! We saw a family of sea otters that was the highlight of my trip. I would rent through this company again, but I hope they are able to organize their online reservations a little better.

My 13 yr. old daughter and I booked a 2 hour kayaking tour on July 6, 2022 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. The offices are located directly on Cannery Row just off the Monterey Bike & Walking paved trail.

We arrived wearing a swim suit, t-shirt and water shoes. They have 3 changing booths to change clothes and have cubbies to store your shoes/flip flops, towel etc. A bathroom is also on the premises. They will give you a "Dry Bag" to put your cell phone, wallet etc. if you wish to bring it on the kayak tour. I used a dry bag to store my cell phone. You also have the option to leave valuables with an associate behind the desk.

Our guide (older female) greeted us and we each got a life vest and a paddle and headed directly to the beach which is about a 1 minute walk. They gave us brief instructions on how to use the paddles, which is important.

We each had a kayak and they helped us into the water and away we went. We kayaked towards Cannery Row and the Monterey Aquarium through the kelp beds. We saw some seals and many ocean otters and their little ones playing and enjoying the ocean.

We also saw a variety of birds, but usually cormorants and pelicans. We then paddled towards Fisherman's Wharf to see some seals basking on the rocks as well as a playful group of otters. No, we didn't see any whales, sharks or Orcas on the tour. Our guide was full of information about the Bay and marine life that we were seeing.

We then made our way back to the beach to end our kayaking tour. Our tour was great and we saw a variety of marine wildlife in their natural habitat, which is priceless. I highly recommend doing a kayak tour with Adventures by Sea.

TIP - I know many people like to take pictures with their cell phone but I don't recommend it. You really need to keep both hands on the paddles and pay attention to the ocean and trying to take pictures while on a moving kayak on the ocean is not a good combination. As they say, don't take anytyhing with you that you can't afford to lose or get wet.

First check your bikes chains because ours was loose, then we called in advance to let them know we would run a little late and when I returned the bike the workers were super rude and upset at me even tho I had already let them know we were running late. I booked half a day for 4-6 people but since they closed early we couldn’t use the full half day. So the lady said they do not do refunds (I was aware I saw on the form) but she only gave me a voucher of $40 when I had paid $120 which isn’t even half of what I paid.

We pre booked 2 hybrid bikes for 1/2 day and did the 17 mile road to Pebble Beach for lunch and back. We are keen cyclists normally but we both found the hybrid assist great! Especially on the way back and for the hill starts. Covering 26 miles in total. We used less than 1/2 the battery life. There is a little bag on the front where you can store phone, camera etc. The staff were all great and gave a good orientation on how the bikes worked and where we could go etc.

It was misty and cold at times, so worth having layers of clothing. We picked the bikes up at 10 and the 17 Mile drive was reasonably busy, with both other bikes and cars, however on the way back, the number of cars on that road was crazy. Whilst there is a cycle lane it was busy busy busy.

Loved it all though, the scenery and views are incredible, something about doing it on the bike makes it slower and you stop more often, in a car people just seemed to want to get to the next parking area...

My family and I (2 adults, 3 teens) initially booked a regular Cannery Row kayak tour at 4 pm on a weekday. However, since the weather conditions were not ideal for kayaking on that day at that time, the company allowed us to re-schedule our tour for the following day. They also booked a private tour for us at 8 am at no extra charge! How cool is that?

The company provides life jackets, water booties, dry bags, and splash pants. We had our own swimsuits, windbreakers, sunscreen, sunglasses, and towels (to dry off afterwards).

We were fortunate enough to have perfect kayaking conditions the next day; the sea was calm and peaceful and the sky was slightly overcast. Our guide, Anne, was experienced and accommodating; she patiently answered all our questions and she even helped us take pictures! We saw an abundance of wildlife…birds, sea otters, seals, and even dolphins! My family and I had an awesome experience! It was definitely worth it for us to book our tour with Adventures by the Sea!

We had a great tour on the water our guide was extremely knowledgeable and showed great passion for the wildlife and ecosystem. The check in process could be tightened up, knowing exactly where to go and being welcomed with a warm greeting would go along way. First impression are very important.

I rented an e-bike for the day and found it to be in excdellent condition as it had very good power, the battery lasted all day and it responded well to turns and maneuvering. The problem was with the staff as they had no time at all to talk to me or answer questions. The oral group instructions lasted one minute, no maps were given out and no adivce or recomendations were made on where to go or what to see. They rushed me in and out very quickly and did not want to be bothered. I realize that Monterey gets slammed with throngs of tourists, but hire more staff. I felt as though I was on my own and nothing was said about what to do if the bike broke down other than leave me with the feeling that I was on my own. They were not rude but in a hurry to get rid of their customers as quick as possible.

My family (myself, wife and two girls ages 6 & 8) were in Monterey and decided to rent a surrey. We had often seen families riding in a surrey and always wanted to do it. Be aware that there are two of these businesses close to each other. The staff was really great and got us signed up, trained on the basics and we were off on our way. There is a path that you can ride on that takes you to Lover’s Point Rock to Monterey Harbor. Along the way there are lots of places to stop to take in the sights. Pedaling the surrey was a good workout particularly when you have a 6 and 8 year old that decide they are done pedaling and and just want to be chauffeured. Also it was fun watching my wife turn the right steering wheel even though she knew that it was not connected to anything. Overall it was a blast and I would definitely recommend it if you have little ones. They also rent e-bikes and I would love to come back and do that sometime.

We rented 5 e-bikes for a half day today. 1 hour into our ride our daughter’s bike’s battery was down to 2 of 5 bars. When we called the store they told us that “she shouldn’t use the throttle all the time” & that we had to ride all the way back to the store to recharge her battery. (She pedaled her bike just as much as the rest of us.) This was a major inconvenience since we were halfway to our lunch destination. After we got her bike taken care of and finally had lunch our youngest son’s bike got a flat tire! We called the office and they drove a new bike to us after questioning him by saying, “Too many wheelies, eh?” Hard to see the humor when we’re stranded on the side of the road. Another thing…one tire on my own bike was nearly bald! We forgot to check it before we left, but shouldn’t the store be doing that? When we returned the bikes they didn’t even offer a credit of any kind! We made the best of the situation despite the bumps, but had our bikes been thoroughly checked by the employees before we left it would’ve been much more enjoyable. I would definitely check another store for e-bikes before going to this one again. We know there are other options.
