This was surprisingly delightful! I love farmers markets but they don’t hold a candle to this one. The produce is from local farmers and is beautiful & so tasty. There are food stalls as well & a couple with other products but the main section is the fresh farm produce. If I lived here, this is where I’d buy all my fruit, veggies, eggs, and baked goods! Not to mention flowers, honey, nuts, etc....
Investigate! Tuesdays from 4pm...

We had a wonderful time at the Farmer's Market, scoring some great produce and eating tasty food along the way. It was easy to get there and well worth it as there were many vendors of all kinds: produce, honey, flowers, crafts, gadgets, home goods, clothes. The hours were convenient and we were close to other attractions once we were done walking the vendors. The atmosphere was enjoyable with several different musicians serenading us as we shopped and ate.

This is a nice opportunity for locals to stock up on fresh produce directly from area farms. Having been to numerous farmer’s markets in many towns and states, this is a relatively small market and at this time of year, the produce and fruit selections limited. While it took less than 30 minutes to look at each vendor’s goods, I believe in supporting local farmers and crafts.

This should be one of the must see's while in Monterey. You can get an inexpensive dinner as well as dessert at one of the many vendors while strolling and soaking up the local atmosphere. The street market is open on Tuesdays from 4-8. You can walk to it from one of the many hotels and motels. The vendors sell all types of cuisines, flowers, fruits, vegetables, baked goods and crafts.

This is a local "Farmer's Market" in Monterey, right on the Main Street. Cars are not allowed, and you can walk the entire area for local stuff...

Old Monterey's farmers market is held Tuesday, late afternoon. There are a few produce stands but they are greatly outnumbered by people selling scarves, hats, jewelry, etc. There are food vendors. It can all easily be perused in 30 minutes. By all means, drop by if staying nearby but there isn't much to it. (If San Luis Obispo's Farmers Market is a 10 food/family fun, Monterey's is about a 3... sorry.)

We were pleasantly surprised to find this little market on our quick stop into Monterey. We just wanted a quick snack before continuing down route 1. We wound up staying longer than expected. They had so many good foods to try along with a free wine tasting. We had just come from Napa Valley where all the samplings were expensive so this was a nice surprise to find free tastings. We wound up buying more of their local wine than we did in Napa Valley.

Definitely worth a trip if you're in town Tuesdays 4-7. A long block's worth of produce and food vendors, plus another block with craft vendors. Great variety.

I can't believe I never wrote this up before. We try to make sure that a trip to the Monterey Peninsula involves a Tuesday just to come to this farmers' market (we come to M. 1X or 2X/yr). Crafts and cooked food vendors as well but the main event is the farmers. It's fun and a large number of folks turn out each and every week. You can't even believe the lines at the roast chicken stand or some of the other prepared food vendors. It's a great pleasure to see so many people out in the street enjoying the evening in Monterey and appreciating the farmers (some of whom come from quite a distance). Two items worth mentioning: 1. Parking is extremely easy and extremely cheap in the city garage(s) that are right next to the market--couldn't be more convenient; 2. While dogs are not allowed in the street (which is the market area) they are allowed to be walked on the sidewalk on either side of the street (so the backside of the vendors).
