Sail with confidence on world famous Monterey Bay. Monterey hosts the most bio-dense and bio-diverse ecosystem on the U.S. Pacific coast. Whether you are a complete novice trying sailing for the first time, or an experienced ocean veteran ready to take your seamanship to a higher level, we offer American Sailing Association (ASA) classes taught to your skill level. Monterey Sailing

Monterey Bay Sailing is a professional sailing organization established in 1998 whose mission is to offer residents of the Monterey Peninsula communities and visitors an affordable opportunity to sail the central coast. Marine mammals seen frequently include grey, blue and humpback whales who blow, or breach as they migrate with their calves. Sea otters, dolphin and vocal sea lions enjoy one of the most pristine areas of the entire Pacific. On cruises, all sailors are offered a chance to take the helm and discover the grace and beauty of a boat under sail.

Choose a captained cruise for a more relaxing voyage in the world's second largest marine sanctuary. Cruises are safe, affordable, family fun for all ages. For sailors who want to become active in the sport, a membership in Monterey Bay Sailing Club reduces the cost of certification courses and bareboat rentals by 50 - 70%. Bareboat rentals are available for non-members who are certified and qualified to bareboat. The Monterey Bay Sailing fleet offers a selection of boats suited to the local conditions.

The local conditions are a sailors paradise. Typically, 345 plus days of good to excellent sailing conditions predominate annually. The prevailing west to northwest wind ranges predictably from 8-15 knots. The ASA sailing school is instructed by professional sailors with decades of experience. ASA certifications are valid for life and recognized internationally. We are dedicated to teaching safety and seamanship and give you the confidence to fulfill your sailing goals and dreams.

Don't get me wrong it was a fun experience! My family and I never been on a sail boat and we had a blast BUT..... what caught our attention was actually wanting to go on this sail boat because they advertised WHALE WATCHING WHILE WE SAIL! And guess what there was NO WHALES! They poached us trying to get on... More

The experience was really nice. The Captain made us feel right at home and explained everything. Nice enjoyable time and Monterey Bay's wildlife. I would recommend it.

This is a locally owned company, located conveniently on one of the two Monterey Bay Piers. There is ample parking close by, and there are also many shops and Restaurants in the immediate area as well. The staff at Monterey Bay Sailing are very friendly and knowledgeable. Be sure to take Dramamine or something similar before leaving the dock, if... More

My partner and I booked a sunset sailing cruise with this company via zerve.com prior to traveling to the US from Australia to celebrate our anniversary. We paid a total of $182 USD for us both to attend a 2 hour sunset cruise with appetizers (cheese and wine). On the day of the cruise, my partner and I drove up... More

It was my birthday and I didn't want to be stuck on a whale watching boat with tons of people. So we walked over to MBS. I always wanted to go sailing anyway. What a treat!!! We were the only ones who booked for that time. We had complimentary wine, the sun was out, tons of sea lions and we... More

We took the private sunset appetizer cruise with my husband's cousin, his wife, and my husband's parents. Dutch , our captain, had forewarned us to dress in 3 layers of warm clothing, but was still prepared with extra loaner jackets for those of us that did not follow instructions! It was windy and chilly, but Dutch kept us supplied with... More

Sailing has been on my bucket list and I had a good experience here in Monterey. I was alone and paid for an hour of sailing. I was able to sail the boat most of the time and that was a great experience! Captain was friendly, maybe a little dry on the personality side, but a local with lots of... More

This was mine, my wife's, and my two boy's first time getting on a boat and sailing into the sea and Captain Dutch made sure that we had an amazing experience. The man knows what he is doing and truly cared about our safety. The whole time we sailed, he educated us on everything we saw. My boys who are... More
