The boat we were on was good sized, we had about 25 people at 8am, so there was plenty of room to walk around and see stuff. After about 90 minutes of travel out, we finally spied our first humpback whale! We saw about 10-15 that day (maybe the sames ones over and over, but who cares!). We also came... More

One of my favorite activities at Monterey Bay! The whale watching is incredible! Not only we can get to see the whales up close, a school of dolphins swam with our boat too! You can see them right beside you whenever they jump out of the water! Must go!

Our family has visited Monterey for over 30 years. We have never tried a whale watch cruise. At the insistence of our grandchildren we booked a cruise. What a treat. The cruise company is very professional with a well trained naturalist to comment on the cruise we sighted several different types of whales and dolphins. Big tip-even if it's sunny... More

Guess we were lucky with the waves as the sea seemed pretty calm, although couple of people (including my daughter) were sea sick. Fortunately not too bad as to spoil it. From research we booked the morning 4 hour trip as it said the sea tends to be calmer in the mornings. We were hoping to see one or two... More

Great ship, great guides, truly great experience as you would expect. It's certainly a must do excursion, but I'm guessing your reading this for insider tips and observations. So here goes- Before you get on the boat take a sea sickness tablet, the chances are you will need it. On our trip the back of the boat was knee deep... More

As a family of 5 we took a 9am trip whale watching. Very enjoyable as we saw Dolphins, hump back whales, otters and loads of seals. Highlight was a hump back that decided to breach for around 20 mins whilst we watched. Great to watch. Rest of trip we were able to see a few different whales surfacing and a... More

Our guide was a train marine biologist, he was willing to spend time talking about the whales and was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We saw 3 types of whale and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

It was amazing to watch the whales and the staff knowledgeable. We booked on the 9am 4 hour tour. It was drizzling and cloudy most of the way. Highly recommend bringing plenty of warm clothes, including hats and gloves. I was too cold standing outside the whole time. They told us that the sea was calm but plenty of people... More

Something we've always wanted to do since seeing Monterey on the BBC nature programme last year. Went out and after an hour we had seen blue whales! Impressed with the knowledge of the crew and how they dealt with those who suffered with sea sickness. Great experience with 5 blue whales and 8 humpback whales - a day we will... More
