I have lived in Monterey County all my life and finally decided to hike at Jack's Peak in 2015. Although it is not as popular as other parks in the area, it was soooo worith it, plus there are not many people. I've been back several times. All the trails are good and not too difficult. The view to the... More

Jack's Peak is a nice park with about 5 hiking trail options through the trees. It is very close to downtown Monterey and only took about 15 minutes to drive there. It is far less popular than the coastal parks of the area, which means it's not as scenic, but also means you can escape the crowds of tourists here.... More

Such lovely views from up here. And you are up in the pine trees, smells so wonderful. Take a snack or lunch to enjoy at the tables when you are finished. But make sure you take water on the hike, it can be hot.

We visited Jacks Peak County Park for some birds. It could have been the wrong time because we did not see a lot of birds, just the Stellar's Jay, junco and robin. However for those who want to hike and just soak in the peace and quiet of the woods, I highly recommend this place. There is a $5.00 parking... More

Great area for hiking with magnificent coastal views from the peaks. Paths are fairly well indicated. Good restroom facilities.

Jack's Peak is fantastic for a quiet hike with views over the bay and the peninsula, with geological points of interest as well as pine and coast oak to wander in. I always find it relaxing here, and it's generally not as crowded as some of the parks close to the beach. There are also great picnic areas for sitting... More

This is a very nice place for a day hike. We take a picnic with us and eat at one of the benches along the trails. It is so gorgeous here. I wish that they would trim a few of the treetops so you could see the Monterey Bay view. Even so, still a nice and very peaceful place to... More

We hiked 2.5 miles of trails out there. You can hit all the scenic overlooks on the skyline loop, within 1/2 a mile. The views at the two overlooks were nice, but you are peering through a gap in the trees to see it, so it is not as panoramic as other hikes/vistas in the area. The remainder of the... More

On clear days one can get spectacular views on a sort hike. There are also areas where one can park the car get some good views too. The entrance fee is $5 but the is a upper parking area where you can hike in from.

Worth the $5.00 entrance fee. Saw many others park in the free parking at the gate but it's a long, long walk up the hill to the entrance. The ranger recommended the hikes to the right and he was rock on. Great views, fairly easy trails, and pleasant overall. Wish I had brought a picnic lunch as there were plenty... More
