Cannery Row has gotten to be equivalent to Pier 39 in SF in its cheesiness and garishness. Anchored, of course, by a BUBBA GUMP'S (now the official international symbol of "You are in a tourist trap. Escape while you can."), Cannery Row has gotten much more crowded with junky stores and much more cheesey over the years. They always had... More

What a pleasant way to walk around Monterey! Lots of shops for window-shopping and several excellent bayside viewing places to look for sea otters.

Although it still bears the name, and some of the original features, this is mainly a tourist trap, full of niche shops and restaurants. Parking was difficult, and even the ride on the trolley was affected by the traffic. Once you have been up the street once or twice, you have done it! The only redeeming feature was seeing a... This location has so much history but it now just a tourist trap. If salt-water taffy and Sunglass Hut is your thing then you might enjoy. But, if you are looking for local history and culture, this is not the place. Sad.

Multiple small shops. A tourist rap but fun place to visit for the history of the sardine industry. Several good restaurants here. Nice public walking trail.

Fantastic restaurants, bars, wine lounges and decent shopping on Cannery Row. Looking forward to returning to try more restaurants. Well worth the visit if you like good food and drink.

We spent a lot of time here walking in the shops and eating at the restaurants. They have a lot of cute areas to walk through. Be sure to continue on past the aquarium- it looks like there is nothing there but there were some great views a block or two down. Park a few blocks inland for free

Cannery Row is a tourist trap filled with generic t shirt stores and over priced food. The aquarium is amazing but the only thing worth any time on Cannery Row.

Lovely area for tourists with some good walks along the route known as Cannery Row. This was made famous with John Steinbeck's wonderful novel called Cannery Row. It is a long street lined with sardine canneries. The sardine industry is long gone, but many of the concrete buildings remain. Well worth a visit if you happen to be in this... More
