About
Built in 1928, our 9-hole golf course, nestled among majestic redwoods, is a classic. Designed by Alister MacKenzie (Augusta National, Cypress Point, Pasatiempo), we're consistently rated one of the top-5 nine-hole courses in the country. Step onto our first tee and find out why. We hope to see you soon.

MOST BEAUTIFUL PUBLIC COURSE EVER!
Sep 2020 • Couples
Where else can you place in the middle of a redwood forest? This was spectacular, and they let us rent clubs and threw in a few balls. We are already thinking of coming back!

Lovely small course
Aug 2019 • Couples
This nine hole 2888 course set among the redwoods is great fun. Play twice if you like to go 18. While there are no major hazards the narrow redwood-lined fairways provide their own challenge. Easy to walk, they rent pull carts or riding carts. A fun course for players of any level.

“Learn with Vern”
May 2019 • Couples
My wife and I attended an event called “Learn with Vern”, which I highly recommend. Vern Ayres is a PGA golf professional and the instructor of this class. You get a lot of individualized attention, as the class is limited to 6 people. The class starts out at the driving range with about 30 minutes of instruction. After the driving range, we all played a couple of holes with Vern, as he continued to provide assistance and guidance. After the lesson, Vern asked if we wanted to continue playing to practice what we had just learned; we said yes, so we rented a cart and continued to play. One of the course marshals named Renny took my wife and I out for a few more holes and he also provided some great instruction. We are below average golfers and we usually don’t keep score; we just go out to have fun. After the “Learn with Vern” session, we could immediately feel and see the difference in our playing. As a direct result of Vern’s instruction, 70% of our shots were straight, which is a major improvement for both of us. I even parred a hole, which is extremely rare for me. It was amazing! I can’t begin to tell you how much more fun we had after learning just a few simple techniques. After some more practice, I can see a private lesson with Vern in our future. Vern, thank you for a great time and a super fun day. You really helped our game.

Lunch with a friend
Apr 2019 • Friends
I used to live out here many years ago. A friend asked to meet up with her for lunch at the Northwood Restaurant. Food is just ok. Nice to sit on the patio and watch the golfers. Beautiful area to stop and have a glass of wine. Or even golf if you are in to golfing, nice golf course.

A real gem in the redwoods.

Amazing course. Great people. If you get the opportunity make sure to take a couple loops. Heck I have played as many as 55 holes there in one day. I have been a member of the Men's club there for 6 to 7 years but have played there for 15 years now. I play there year round but watch the weather in the winter.

Best 9 hole course we’ve played!
Jul 2018 • Family
Highly recommend this course for a cool experience on a hot day. Great course to walk as the play was slow enough to keep up with the golfers in front of us without slowing down the play behind us. Quiet and peaceful few hours.

Stopped in for breakfast only before heading back to the Bay Area. Warm and inviting host, good coffee and tasty and filling breakfast! I love that the menu had plain old-fashion breakfast options and prices: bacon, eggs, hash browns, hearty omelets, pancakes...( live in the Bay Area, where most dining spots are over-priced, over-rated and not always satisfying). The restaurant décor is dated, but it seems to work for this location--kinda country-farm warmth vibe. There's a full bar, beautiful views of the golf course and a giant fire-pit in the center of the restaurant. Will definitely stop there on my next visit to the area.

a classic golf stop . . .
Sep 2017 • Friends
golfers are often surprised when they learn that alister Mackenzie designed this course . . . 9 holes cut out of the redwoods, making it what I once called "the noisiest course" in northern California considering the sound of ball hitting tree . . . the course is in good shape although caretakers are challenged because the big redwoods block out much of the sun . . .the northwood restaurant is a good place to kick back, enjoy a cold drink and some good food . . .

Decent food and a pleasant view
Jul 2017 • Friends
The food here is decent, but nothing amazing. I've eaten here a few times and the service is goo, but the food just doesn't quite hit the spot enough to make me go out of my way to come here.

The view of the golf course is probably the best view of any restaurant in the area.

Prices are ok.

Nice course under the redwoods. Very scenic and worth a visit even if you are just a beginner at golf. Convenient location next to restaurant and hotel.
