The redwood canoes have a rudder system for steering so riders can paddle on any side they want. Service was friendly, punctual and professional. The estuary is spectacularly beautiful. Very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

We'd seen these canoes from the Little River Beach last time we were in town and made sure they were on our To Do List his time around. The only double outrigger canoes around, they made for a lovely afternoon on the Little River (harbor seals and otter family included at no extra charge). Incredibly stable and easy to maneuver, and some boats can accommodate up to 12 people (at least that's what the staff said). Would highly recommend!

We rented two bikes from Catch a Canoe and had an excellent time riding through the trail across the river. It's a beautiful ride through the woods, along the river; we saw two seals! The bikes were very good and the two employees who helped us were extremely personable and helpful. Great company!

Spent a wonderful morning on the river with my family! We got one of the outriggers which made it stable with squirmy kids. The view was plain beautiful; we saw birds, fish, crabs and some playful seal! Highly recommended

My wife and I have visited Mendocino twice, once for our honeymoon and again for our ten-year anniversary. On our most recent trip, we decided to rent a canoe for a self-guided trip on the Big River. We rented a two-person outrigger canoe and paddled about three or four miles inland. We had an encounter with a fur seal basking in the sun on a log. He let us get quite close and didn't seem bothered by our presence. We saw lots of birds and a family of otters. The views are spectacular and made for a very peaceful trip. The only difficulty was by fault of our own as we didn't properly time our trip. We ended up paddling back to Catch-a-Canoe against the incoming tide. THAT is a serious workout! I recommend timing your launch for the last hour of the incoming tide and the ebb, then returning with the incoming tide. Bring a snack and water, a hat, light rain sweatshirt, and a pair of decent binoculars.
