It's real purdy in this area. Lots of ocean and trees and mountains and big sky. The towns have gone downhill though.

We visited Fort Bragg a few miles north and went to the Glass Beach and Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden. Both places have gorgeous views of the ocean and vegetation and are great places to spend the day. The walking is not difficult. Fort Bragg has a lot of restaurants, and we ate lunch there. We also took a whale watch... More

This was the first time my wife and I visited the Mendocino area. The views are beautiful along the coast. The town itself is quite small. Lots of tourist shops and small restaurants. Culture and quaint.

This coast is rugged at times. It roams through small towns each with it's own character. Mendocino has Van Damm Park with hiking and nature, shopping, hotels, great food. Ft. Bragg has the Glass Museum, Glass Beach, Hidden Valley RV Park Store with exotic wild dried mushroom for sale, and Mackericher State Beach.

The shoreline is dotted with big rocks and the waves can splash up over 50 ft. on an incoming tide in places

The view of the sea, its inlets, its sea glass, as well as the seriousness of the redwood trees, with sunlight filtering to cast rays of light, is breath-taking. Makes one realize our smallness, yet our connection with nature.

What a fab place to visit. The scenery is spectacular. Not to mention some great restaurants and wineries close by. Whale watching from December-April. Great temps high 50's-60's during the day. Check it out and enjoy!

The Mendocino Coast from Elk all the way up to Fort Bragg is just majestic. And if you come in from Cloverdale and take 128 West to Mendocino you will pass probably a good 20 wineries with tasting rooms. When I 1st starting going to Mendocino 25 years ago they might have been 4 or 5 wineries but it has... More
