My family went to Little River at the end of July. We visited the Big River State Park where it meets the Pacific Ocean. This is a great park to visit with a big sandy beach. It wasn't too crowed for a sunny July afternoon....More

We really enjoy renting a kayak or outrigger from Catch A Canoe. On our last trip we saw seals, river otters and tons of birds. Always a great way to spend a few hours while in Mendocino.

Big River has nice, soft sand that leads out to the dramatic coast along with a calm water inlet where you can paddle board. It's a nice place for families and teenagers.

This is a peaceful place to picnic, or rent a kayak or canoe and float down the river. There is a lot of wildlife in the area as well as biking/hiking paths. Would highly recommend it.

Where I come from, people smile and will engage in conversation, here too. I always have questions and I got answers here. The abalone divers were great to tell info about it all.

We stopped here for a quick picnic lunch. What a beautiful beach. The inland beach was a little warmer than the ocean side but both were gorgeous.
