The Jughandle State Reserve is gorgeous. I read that there were nice beaches- but these beaches were jaw-droppingly beautiful! I'll be back soon!

From the parking lot just off HWY 1, you walk through a wooded path and down some stairs to find a medium coarse sandy beach with a small creek running into the ocean. The beach feels very private and the surf is great for boogie...More

I was here for a wedding. What a beautiful location. I'm used to sandy beaches, but love the sight of waves crashing on rocks. Jughandle gives you both.

Jug Handle was the highlight of our trip. We took our two dogs in the trail to the Pygmy Forrest. The dogs love it and so did we! In addition to the Pygmy Forrest trail, there are trails on the bluffs overlooking the ocean. The...More

Well worth stopping and checking out the beach coastal area. Great photo ops. Fun walk to the beach area. Had the beach to ourselves for most of the time we were there. Beautiful

My wife and I did the 7 mile round trip hike up to the Pygmy Forest. The hike is uphill most of the way up but it is a gentle rise the entire way with a few steeper spots. There are a few spots were...More

This hike takes you through three completely different environmental zones in a 5 mile round trip hike. It is an easy hike and there is a boardwalk through the pigmy forest at the far point.

Not very many hikers which is surprising for a holiday weekend. They had the wooden staircase closed and did a terrible job of telling visitors where they could go to find the trail. Hopefully that will be fixed by today.

It's a small beach but don't let that stop you. It's very beautiful and well worth the walk down the stairs. You can either swim, chase the waves or explore the rocks and tide pools on the left.

Agree with drheathr, trail is mostly level and walking speed after the beginning steep decline. However trail map says that it is 5 miles long one way and there is no alternate return route, just one way in and one way out... More

I was at the park for a wedding. We used the trail down to the beach. Some of the steps are irregular in height and position, but it is an easy trail. If a bride can do it in her gown and guests ranging from 6 months into... More
