Took my 9 year old son, who's obsessed with raptors, to the Triple Raptor Experience for a holiday gift and it was all we'd hoped for! Although the weather was cold and windy on the day we booked, Kate, Leah, Heather and their amazing raptors weren't daunted at all and gave us all a top notch experience. They were all super knowledgeable and struck a great balance between sharing great information and the raptor demonstrations. My son was totally enthralled with all of the birds - his very favorite things were being able to call Diego to land on his arm and getting to interact with wee Hamish, who warmed everyone's heart. I was very pleasantly surprised by how hands on the session was and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves raptors! Thanks for a wonderful and memorable experience!

The visit to West Coast Falconry was something we have never experienced before, and you will have a hard time finding anywhere else. We have been to falconry demonstrations where you watch a pro handle the bird and do maneuvers, but this was totally hands on, led by 1 professional and 3 experienced helpers guiding each of 10 active participants handling the birds. There were also several observers over the age of 7. The youngest participant was perhaps 12, and she did a great job. Plenty of chances for taking photos and videos. Best if you bring a fellow participant or observer to do photos.

My wife Nancy and I loved every minute of the time we got to spend at West Coast Falconry. We arrived at 7:30 AM and left at 11:30 AM. The birds are right there when parked our car and got out, they are spectacular. Brian and Megan welcomed us, Megan began introducing to the birds, got us gloves, while Brian readied the two birds we would work with. We walked through the beautiful rolling property located near the edge of the Sierra Foothills to what Brian called the "office": a vista out to enormous open space and scrub, giving way in the distance to the rising terrain of the Sierra. He had the falcon Beebe on his arm and led a discussion to introduce us to falconry. Then Beebe flew for us and we got to see how falconry is conducted. Then Beebe interacted with us flying to and from each of our arms under Brian's supervision. Brian's passion for falconry, and his birds and sharing with us the wonder of these birds and the bird/human bond of falconry is a centerpiece of the experience. Seeing up close Beebe devouring his his quail reward was spectacular.
We then spent time with the Sonoran Harris’ hawk - Don Diego. We interacted with Diego in a wooded area where the hawk flew freely all around us and perched just above us on rocks and trees, participating in several activities where he landed on our gloved hand when signaled as Brian showed us how to do, and retrieved food morsels. Brian emphasized how special Diego is given that all hawks are very intelligent and it was easy to appreciate him.
Lastly we spent time with the exquisite little screech owl Hamish. He is a precious little bird who coos and twitters constantly while he flies back and forth between guests and accepts food from our fingers.
Again, my wife and I loved the morning and appreciate Brian and Megan very much. We were given so much to encourage our appreciation of the birds and of falconry.

UNETHICAL -- Would not recommend! I bought a 2-person triple raptor package from them. They canceled the day before due to the weather. I rescheduled for another day. They called me 3 days in advance of my appointment and canceled again due to weather. They are refusing to give me a refund and continue to say it is policy they do not offer refunds and will make no exception despite them canceling twice now. I am not local so cannot continue to reschedule and paid >$550 for the experience. The woman making the phone calls was unhelpful and uninterested in providing any level of customer service. Hugely disappointing... I would not take a chance and pay for services from them again.

First, I appreciate Kate's friendliness and patience in helping me navigate my way there after I took a wrong turn on the road there. She even held up the tour, which was very considerate.
WCF has a variety of birds under their ownership: they rotate between them so that none get overexerted. For my tour Kate used a hawk named Avalon.
She told us about the history of falconry, the certification process to become a falconer and how to train the birds. Then came the fun part, where we used scraps of meat to have Avalon fly between myself and the other guests. She would also fetch food that was tossed in the air, which was my favorite part. On the ground, she could be made to waddle between our legs by again luring her with food.
The tour finished with a photo op, and I made sure to visit the gift shop on my way out.
One thing to note is that at least during the warmer months, tours are only held early in the morning. This can make it difficult for someone like myself who made a trip from the Bay Area.

I cannot say enough about West Coast Falconry. I booked the owl encounter for my wife's 50th Birthday and every member of our family had an experience that I am sure will rate as one of our best ever.
I especially want to recognize Frankie & Sparky, our guides, teachers, and hosts extraordinaire. From the moment we arrived, they were like long lost friends that made sure are experience was the very best.
Last but not least was the stars of the show. Each owl we met was so majestic and perfect. Having one of these creatures fly to you and rest on your hand was an experience we will not soon forget.

Set up our visit to West Coast Falconry for a birthday surprise for my wife. She was extremely excited because of the hands on experience. The personnel was very knowledgeable and patient, I would recommend this experience to anyone who loves animals. All COVID 19 guidelines were followed to the letter and we felt very safe the entire time.

This was a unique, exciting educational experience in beautiful surroundings, emphasizing respect for the environment and its creatures. Very knowledgeable falconers, Francie and Sparky, served as our guides. The observer experience (mine) was nearly as exciting as the hands-on role ( my husband’s). The 3 hours flew by! The falconers so love their jobs that they added 1/2 hour to compensate for a start late by only several minutes. Appealing to all age groups and levels of interest ( budding falconers in their own right to people who simply admire the flight of raptors) I would think. Thanks to everyone involved!!

Took my grandchildren on the Raptor Experience last week. Falconers Amber and Brian were so friendly and very knowledgeable. They kept things fun and we learned a lot. We got to see three of the birds perform aerial maneuvers, first with the handlers. Then, we got to put on the gloves, to have the birds perch on our hands for rewards. Such a great way to get to see these magnificent birds up close. We got to spend two hours with the birds, just the four of us and our hosts Amber and Brian. They provided many opportunities for taking pictures with the birds. It was a most memorable experience.

Outstanding experience!! Gorgeous facility with diverse, well-cared for birds both rescued and bred. The staff very clearly has a close and caring connection with all the animals- I never expected to see a caring and trusting exchange between an apex predator and a human! Beyond the place itself, the staff is highly educated, inspired to teach, and committed to a positive experience for clients of all ages. I cannot say enough about this terrific place, the outstanding people, and the gorgeous and breath-taking birds.
