Not sure why this is even an option. There's no tours or anything going on over at the old jail. Just a plaque outside to read....

Interesting history. Door was not locked so you can take a peek inside. If you are staying in town you might as well stop and see it.

If you're passing through, this is interesting to see from the outside, but we could not see or go inside.

We walked around the entire outside of this building and marveled that anyone could ever have escaped from it, but we learned they had. It had very thick stone walls and few openings. Would have liked to see the inside.

Historic, building built with huge rocks, something that you cannot see anywhere else. Easily accessible

The building is not open. It is a small brick building that has metal slats for windows. There is nothing to see.

A small jail made of stone, seemed quite sturdy from the exterior, so no chances of a jail break! Could not see the interior as it was locked, but could imagine it had one or perhaps two cells where the Sheriff of the town with his silver-star badge and low-slung-on the-hip gun belt would march in with the hand-cuffed prisoner... Just nothing to say can't get in so wouldn't describe it as an attraction, not even worth a photograph.

The jail is an interesting little building to visit and shows you some history about the town. There is an information board telling the history of the jail, which is quite interesting. It's worth visiting if you are staying in Mariposa
