Our family of 5 went on the Matt Walsh to go whale watching. We saw a fin whale and two blue whale. Apparently in the whale world, this was a big deal!! We were thrilled to see these awesome creatures. I would guess 30-35 people were on the boat and it was not crowded at all. The crew members were... More

Went out today after a false start last week when it was cancelled due to weather conditions. The small crew were very professional and helpful and we had 3 volunteers with us from Cabrillo Marine Aquarium lovely ladies with so much information. We had dolphins swimming along with us, then we saw numerous Fin Whales some very close to the... More

Mother Nature intervened and forced the captain to cancel our whale watching cruise. We'd purchased Groupon vouchers for the tour, and Marina del Rey Sportfishing helped us get our money back from Groupon -- which wasn't easy. Groupon wanted to refund our purchase in something called "Groupon Bucks," even though we'd used cash to buy the vouchers. Marina del Rey... More

A long, steady boat is a good way to see the beaches of Los Angeles County. When you go out of Marina del Rey you will be in the LAX flight path and see Marina del Rey, Playa del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica, Malibu, Manhattan Beach and Torrance. If you are lucky you will see whales, sea lions and catch... More

I had an extra day in LA after the Rose Bowl and wanted to get out fishing the Pacific, so I jumped on a half day afternoon charter on 1/2/16 (too hungover to go in the morning). I was pleasantly surprised by the party boat experience. We were consistently on fish. Everyone was catching stuff, and I ended up adding... More

Great crew, nice boat and plenty of fish. What more can you ask for? Definitely one of the more family friendly fishing boats in Southern California. Lots of space, it's a big boat and Captain Danny put us on the fish every time. Fun day! Thanks guys, my daughter and I had a good time fishing, see you again. Lee

My two oldest boys and I have been here twice now. The crew never disappoints, we have been on the 1/2 day New Del Mar and the 3/4 day Spitfire and both trips were awesome. The hamburgers on both boats are excellent, they have drinks including beer, my favorite part about these guys is that if you rent your rod... More

Good crew. Bad fishing due to seals poaching our lines. Service was excellent. Tangled like especially several times. They were right there to straighten it out. Set the bait unhooked the fish. Pulled the spine especially and filleted for 1 dollar per fish

We saw quite a few grey whales, some dolphins and were even greeted by a sea lion when we returned to the dock. The volunteers on the boat are a wealth of information and are clearly passionate about what they do! Very good with children. Word of caution - take layers. If the sun is hidden and there is wind,... More

Great ocean fishing boats. My trip fas adventure filled. The boat stayed aut all day and there was many fish caught. I was new at this and landed 2 bullet tuna and one red fish. Rented the rod from the boat, it was a ocean spinning rod and the crew helped me as much as I wanted with using it... More
