Great place to spend a nice afternoon taking in the sunshine and fresh air. You can pack a lunch, or get food at the restaurants on the pier. People watch as people walk by or are fishing. You can also stroll on the beach.
Perfect place to start a visit to Malibu. A great cafe sits on thevend of the pier serving breakfast and all-day fare. A full bar/restaurant at 5ge start odiferous the pier serving also dinner. Great for people watching and a perfect jumping-off point for beach...More
Parking is right beside the pier and $10 a day.
The pier itself doesn’t have a lot on it but we hired a fishing rod and bait for $22 for 2 hours, didn’t catch anything but it was fun.
Had breakfast and just chilled in...More
The views are great the food is good and the atmosphere has a little bit to be desired. Unfortunately the homeless or problem I don’t you find a place for them to stay so you can enjoy this day and not the stench
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted
with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
We got a street spot relatively close on a Friday night around 6pm but then couldn't find anything and the lot for the pier was full on Saturday morning around 10:30am. Same thing for early Sunday morning.
Staying in Marina del Rey - Drive time to Malibu Pier? (6 Replies)
We are going to a wedding near the Malibu Pier last Sunday in Oct. Ceremony starts at noon. Wedding hotel is in Marina del Rey. Any ideas about how long the drive would be? I hear the beach traffic can be horrible.

You can do a 'map search' of the route on any of the popular sites and get the 'real time' by doing the search on the day and time of day that you'll be making the drive. Assuming you plan to be at the ceremony early, you won't have much traffic since people don't get up super early on Sunday to go to the beach and October is not really 'beach season' although, granted the weather is still quite moderate at that time of year.
Trip report - Days 2 (night) 3 and 4 (8 Replies)
I can't remember exactly where I left off but Thursday night we headed out to Sunset Strip and had a few drinks at the Rainbow Bar & Grill before making our way over to the Key Club to go see Slaughter. I didn't realize how small it was, but I probably had one of the strongest drinks of my life there. My husband had a great time as the singer from Bulletboyz played a few songs too, so he was excited about that surprise appearance. All in all it was a good time, interesting crowd, but fun....More

Looks like you are having a blast. Sitcoms always take a longtime to tape, maybe when you come with your girls out the next time, check on Jimmy Kimmel Live which is so much fun to see and you are in and out within an hour as that show is taped live. Basically what you see is what you get, no retakes or anything. I have always a good time going there

Is malibu worth checking out?? Can you get on to the beach?? The Malibu pier sounds great and I noticed that someone mentioned a great restaurant there too. We are staying in Santa Monica with a car and would like to know how far it takes to drive to Malibu??

It's about 20 minutes from Santa Monica. Yes you can go on the beach. Yes, the pier there is worth seeing, and there are two restaurants to choose from, both good, both have great views (same owners - one is more expensive, Beachcomber) If you go to the outlet in Camarillo, as I mentioned in your other thread, Malibu is on the way there, on Hwy 1. You can stop on your way up, or on your way back (but I really wouldn't waste a day at the Outlets)
