I visited the vineyards in May 2018. While I enjoyed the time I spent at the vineyard itself, I was disappointed in our horseback riding adventure. I was prompted to write this review as my memories just popped up from my visit and the one single picture from my phone that I had of my mom and I on Mother's Day horseback riding. We spent 2-3 hours on our private horseback ride, but did not have any pictures. I brought a nice, professional camera but was told by our guide, that she would take all the photos of us. We posed throughout the vineyard and it was so nice not to worry about the photos. She got so many great shots of us, or I assume. I was supposed to receive all the photos via email and those never came. I followed up for weeks asking if I could get my photos, I texted, I called, and NO ONE replied. Needless to say, I'm still bitter that I paid for a private tour, it was a memorable day with my mom, and I would have cherished those pictures forever. Even if the pictures were lost by the guide, why not just tell me what happened? Either way, word of advice, the grounds are beautiful and if you do have the option of taking your own photos, go with that.

We joined the Fess Parker wine club when we visited last year in 2021. We had a wonderful experience and the staff was informative and helpful.
One year later, all I can say is we were very disappointed. We made a tasting reservation, had to track down someone to let them know we arrived and we indicated we were wine club members. One staff person in particular really could care less about us. We asked questions about certain wines and all we got as an answer is “we don’t have those here, you need to order on line.”
Another girl came over after to help us and she was more pleasant, but the tone had already been set.
We still enjoyed the wine, but not the experience. We may be replacing this club with another one soon.

The view from the patio was nice but the server was not knowledgeable and we had to wait a long time for the next pour, even though there were actually very few guests to be attended to.

As if that was not enough to warn us off, we actually got three bottles to take home. But when we received our credit card statement, it shows they had duplicate charged us! Worse, when I called to clear it up, not one but two employees gave me the runaround and denied that they showed there was a duplicate charge. I told them that each charge had a different transaction number listed on my credit card, but rather than look into it they said they would have some other person contact me with “any additional information”…

Maybe I’m being a little cranky here, but being charged twice for the same purchase on my credit card statement is all the “information” I need. I was hoping they would return the duplicate charge to me voluntarily, but instead I had to file a claim with my credit card company!

Unbelievable!!

I'm sure this is a wonderful winery. My neighbor went and loved it. Unfortunately did not get to try the wine. We were told we needed a reservation. Maybe showing up on a Sunday morning at 10:00 was not appropriate but never heard of needing a reservation before. Have been to many wineries in Napa and did not need a reservation. Times have changed. Staying in Pismo Beach was a little bit of a ride so I'm not sure if I will be back. Would have liked to give a five-star rating

Hi carolmI6400JL, I'm so sorry we weren't able to accommodate you during your recent trip and missed the opportunity to taste you through our wines. We do, like most wineries in the area, ask that guests make a reservation for wine tasting with us, but we always welcome walk-ins for wine by the glass or bottle purchases. Again, we're so sorry to have missed an opportunity to serve you! Best, Greer & the Fess Parker team

Wow! This place is located in a beautiful area and we had a very memorable experience. We started with the horseback ride through the farmland and vineyards, our guide was so lovely and the horses were extremely well trained so it made for a relaxing ride. We then drove up to the main building for our tasting, which was led by very knowledgeable staff and we left with a delicious bottle of Pinot Noir. Beautiful architecture, I could see why this is a popular place. Can’t wait to return!

Every time we go south (literally, not figuratively) we must stop at Fess Parker and have a bottle of the delicious Rose'. This time they were out of Rose' so we had a bottle of the bubbly. We love the beautiful grounds. This time it was too chilly for a grassy picnic so we drank by the lovely fire pit. So beautiful. Must stop!

Made a deliberate detour here on the way to Pismo Beach on September 25th out of a strong nostalgia for Fess Parker, and a habitual desire to support family businesses. The beautiful grounds were encouraging, as were the “Fess-isms” posted on the outside wall. One of them was to “never miss a chance to meet and talk with new people.” So It was doubly disappointing to not only not be greeted, but be completely ignored by the staff lady at the counter, who seemed excessively focused on the only couple at the bar. When I tried to get her attention by looking at her and waving, she hid the side of her face with her hand. Deliberately ignoring the only other customer in the room was mystifying until she loudly announced to the couple that “we close at 5:00.” I looked at my watch and saw it was 4:45. So a potential customer is ignored to avoid the risk of staying longer than 15 minutes? I left disappointed and the winery lost my business. Seems a shame. I’m pretty sure it’s not what Fess would have wanted.

California park oasis is how I would describe this property and tasting room. We stopped here on a lark. The team manning the tasting room could not have been more friendly and willing to share the wonderful history of the original proprietor. Such an unexpected gem!!

This was my second visit to Fess Parker winery this summer. I had hoped things had improved so I wouldn't need to write this review but sadly they have not. While the servers and hosts are friendly, they spend little time discussing the wines being poured and more importantly all are poured at once and left on your table. Needless to say they get hot! Good spacing for the virus but i will now go to the wineries that pour each taste one at a time.

Hi ConnieLongBeach, We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with your recent visit to the winery. We're still working on perfecting our outdoor service model and the last few weeks of unprecedented heat have certainly been challenging. I'll be sharing your feedback with our Director of Hospitality so that we can address the issues you mention. We do hope you'll give us another shot in the future. Best, Greer Shull & the Fess Parker team

I have been coming to Fess Parker with my dog (CGC Certified) and never had a problem. This past weekend with a reservation in advance we were told to sit far away in the dirt area. Not a dog friendly place anymore. Sauro Mosti “Directory of Hospitality” needs better training on how to manage customers with complains. I cancelled my membership and will not recommend this winery to anyone. Will never go to Fess Parker again, plenty of other wineries that are dog friendly.

Hi Jorge, Thank you for your feedback. It's not our intention to offend or make anyone upset with this new policy. Our goal is to accommodate the preferences of all of our guests. As a family owned and operated business we of course love children and we also love dogs, which is why we've put a lot of work into the Oak Grove. We feel confident that it will be a comfortable and enjoyable experience for guests with pets and families and it also allows us to continue to enhance the wine tasting experience for guests on our 21+ patio. Just to note, service dogs are of course welcome anywhere on the winery grounds as well. Again, we're sorry to hear you're disappointed and hope you'll give us another shot in the future. Best, Greer & the Fess Parker team
