Pretty little hike

Went a few weeks ago with my husbands and 3 kids ages 16,13 and 10. It's just under a mile mostly down, which means mostly up on the way out, but it's not bad. Unfortunately it wasn't a waterfall...just a trickle, but it's a very pretty hike and we were glad we did it.

This is a great family hike. We've done it with kids as young as 6, who did beautifully. The waterfall is a nice destination, but sometimes dull if there is no water (remember the drought? ) But if you really want to challenge yourself, continue on the trail about another mile where you will come to a campground (for backpackers).... Castle rock is beautiful. You don't really have to be in that good of shape but the choice is yours. there are many paths that will suit your level of activity. Its just beautiful in the winter .....just watch out for the poison oak.

This is a little park tucked away in the Los Gatos mountains, easily accessed by car. The hikes are only moderately strenuous, but offer everything from rocks you can scramble up to vistas as far as the eye can see.

Hiking the trail was nice, but the falls are unremarkable. Decent spot for a lunch break. Start early in the day for mist filled views.

Lots of trails, lots to do. Waterfall, rocks to climb, bridges to cross. View of Monterey Bay. Lots of visitors, limited parking. Be sure to get out before sundown! We took longer climbing all over Goat Rock and almost got a ticket when we got back to the car just past sundown. The ranger was NOT understanding!

Really good hiking trail also nice views of the valley. Bring comfortable shoes cause it is a bit of a long hike but pretty easy.

It's a pleasant enough walk to get here, and a moderately difficult climb (5.8ish?) to get back up it. The CA coastal mtns have many cascades like this in them.

The Castle Rock Falls is located in Castle Rock State Park. One would need to walk 0.8 miles from entrance to the falls. When there, it's basically a small deck with a nice view of the hills and trees, but the falls are on the bottom of the deck. It should be called a creek and not falls because the... More
