Neighborhood: Venice
Venice has always danced to its own beat as the epicenter of bohemian culture in Los Angeles. Along the boardwalk there are street performers and local craftsmen selling their wares. Original paintings, souvenirs, and jewelry are on display. Crowds of visitors marvel at the sites while weightlifting enthusiasts pump iron in plain view, and skateboarders do their tricks around the skate park. All of it happens under the warm California sun with sprawling views of sand and sea. Heading east, the main drags of Abbot Kinney Boulevard and Main Street are lined with boutique shops, some major retail stores, art galleries and restaurants. Here the ambiance is more relaxed and upscale than the frenetic boardwalk area. Venice is a mostly walkable (and certainly bikeable) neighborhood, full of areas to explore.

Had great service from Alex. He was helpful and nothing was too much bother when answering questions from all the tourists. The bikes are not in fantastic condition but they are kept right next to the ocean however we experienced no problems and easily got to Santa Monica pier and back within an hours rental ($6). No upfront payment. Only pay on return. Baskets and bike locks are optional and are included in the hire. They were cheaper than other offerings on the Venice beach stretch and also the outfit looked welcoming and the pricing was on display which meant no hidden charges.

We checked out 3 bike rental spots in Venice and this place had the lowest prices and biggest selection of new-ish bikes. The rental fee includes locks and helmets. The staff was super friendly and had us in and out of there in fewer than 10 minutes. There is no better way to check out Venice and Santa Monica than by bike, so saddle up and get after it.

There is no better way to experience the Californian coast than on one of these bikes. You can book and pay online, or just rock up. If you show up in person, there are no fees until you return so you aren't held to a time limit, pay when you get back! There are plenty of options of bikes: we hired the basic beach cruisers. These are one gear only, back pedal brakes, wide comfortable seat. But there are others increasing in cost, all the way to electric or those who want to experience the wind in your hair without the cycling effort.
Helmets are provided for those who wish, or children (Calfornia law states it is only mandatory for under 18s, but as an Aussie it just felt weird to not wear one). There is an optional basket provided (no extra charge) to place your things in as you ride, and all Bikes come with a lock. There are plenty of opportunities to lock your bike along the bike path as you ride, including at Santa Monica Pier. At a casual ride, this location is about 20 mins north of Venice Beach and the terrain is completely flat.
Take it slow and enjoy the view as you ride, it really is magnificent!

I hired out a 'premium bike' with a trailer for my 3 year old - the staff were genuine and nice, but the trailer was very beaten up and the bikes gears were pretty gnarly. It did the job, but I imagine there are probably some nicer bikes out there to hire if you shop around.

We had visited a day before inquiring about biking with our 11 month. They had trailers and had even suggested competitors if we were looking for baby seats. The guy (Rob?) was so nice we ended up coming back and just booking 2 cruisers and a baby trailer there. 2 guys pressure cleaned the trailer, installed it, threw in 3 bike locks and baskets, adjusted our seats and did a quick check on everything before they saw us off. Riding towards Santa Monica, the baby passed out and passed out almost immediatley. We also passed by several other bike rental shops that seemed to gradually increase in price up until more than double our rates as we got to SM. These guys pretty much made our day at the beach and our baby's first bike ride amazing.

These folks are terrific and it was a great rental experience.
Super friendly on the phone (thank you Luke!)
Really accommodating, helpful and professional when we went to pick up the bikes (thank you Carlos!)
FYI - they provide helmet, locks and lights in the price.
The bikes were in great shape and well maintained.
Great day rental price. We had a ton of fun.
Thank you Ride! Venice.

A great experience, from beginning to end. We called for rental and parking info. We were directed to the Santa Monica Public Library, $5 for the day and half a mile away. It was a sunny Saturday and super duper busy in town and on the boardwalk. Our check in process was efficient for four rentals, and we were on our way with directions in ten minutes. We'll be back!!

The staff was super cool, and so casual. We rented three bikes, and the whole process was very easy. They do take your drivers license so don't plan on drinking while riding the bike. We rented the bikes and rode all the way to the Santa Monica pier. It was an amazing experience. They give you a free bike chain, and a free basket if you want them. Def a good place to rent bikes from.

Rented 3 electric bikes on 7/3/18 full day. Had a blast, my boys 19 & 16 loves it. Went to Santa Monica pier and back, then swapped out batteries at ride Venice and then went to Manhattan beach. What a ride. We had a battery problem, so I called and they sent an Uber with the shop mech who was great. He came with extra batteries. Only waited 15 min. Top notch place. Def rent here. Owner and mech are great honest working guys.

Ride Venice was really no different from the other bike rental places along the Venice Boardwalk. I had passed on some of them as the bikes looked a little beat up and the reviews of Ride Venice were better. Well, after getting here I felt I should have rented from the first place I came to which was a block from where I had parked. The beach cruisers were ok for a ride up and down the Venice Strip, but nothing more. The all had some amount of rust on the frame or pedals and lacked proper upkeep, again nothing different from the other bikes I saw at various locations and on bikes from different shops along the ride. Pricing was about the same as the other shops as well. SO… I would just go to the first shop I come to and have a nice ride on the Venice strip.

My friend and me, we will visit Venice in September. Do you think it is necessary to make a reservation for the bikes now? Or it is possible to go to the rental when we are in Venice? I am afraid that we will not get bicycles anymore, because it's the High Season of the summer.
Thank you, Michelle

Our battery chargers are 5600mAh which is plenty to charge any phone twice! 3-hour is no problem!
Thank you for inquiring.
