Neighborhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

I saw one of their ads on social media that sparked curiosity. When visiting their website, I came across this beautiful Blue Onyx Cat at an affordable price. Living in NYC, I thought shipping would take up to a full week when purchased over the weekend. To my surprise, it arrived, carefully packaged, Monday afternoon without additional expedited shipping charges. It's beautiful, well weighted & certainly worth slightly more than I paid.
This shop is the real deal with quality pieces in a plethora of interests! There are a few more artful pieces I'd love to grab up before the holiday season.

Oddities, books, antiques, fantastic shop keeps, a great neighborhood, and unique merchandise are what you will find at Memento Mori. It's in the historic walking neighborhood of Echo Park, not far from Down Town Los Angeles. The vibe is quiet, dim, mysterious...everything that you would love for a shop like this to be.

This store is a must-see! It is so creative. I stopped in a couple years ago and was even more impressed this visit. I saw it featured on Storage Wars and decided to go back this trip. It is a great place to shop for a present for someone who has everything, or when you just don't know what to get for someone, you'll be inspired here.
I ended up buying gems, beautiful jewelry, a framed butterfly, and I wanted to buy so much more. They had cool antiques, fancy candles, hip home decor, artistically framed dragonflies, original artwork, punk t-shirts... I wish I would've had more time to spend checking everything out. I am not as into the goth stuff and taxidermy but honestly it makes the store such an experience. It is very artistic the way they have presented everything.
