We wanted to go on a kayak adventure just as we did on one of our other vacations. We wanted to stay around LA and not go down to the San Diego area. You do get a good work out . The bike ride is just a warm up the real adventure is the river. Go when the river is higher... More

Thanks for joining us and giving such a detailed and accurate review. We are still sometimes shocked at the transition from urban life to being in nature. Around a bend one may see electric towers but at points only birds, rapids and wildlife. We are always striving to strike a good balance between urban-nature workout and a fun and doable... More

Take a kayak trip and shoot rapids - right in the heart of Los Angeles. The LA river in the Frogtown area (north of Dodger Stadium) has a kayak experience that is a must for LA adventure-seekers. Ride two miles up the bike path, then put in your kayak and paddle down river to the start. There are several rapids... More

Thanks for joining us. Kayaking the LA River is a must do if you want to understand the possibilities of the river as the core of an urban park that would run through all of Los Angeles. Elysian Valley is a unique location where nature took over and has provided a surprisingly fun and challenging location for urban nature adventure. More

My teenage daughter and I did the morning Kayak Safari on August 1st and had a great time. The water was a little low, which made navigating through some of the rocks a little difficult, but Steve and Nick were there to help if needed. It was amazing to be able to do this in LA and created a wonderful... More

We are constantly amazed by the incredible who join us on our trips. It seems like those who chose to take this urban river journey are cut from special cloth. More

Surprised to find such a great outdoor adventure opportunity in the middle of Los Angeles. The cheerful staff greets you on time with a helpful approach to this "surprise" adventure. What starts with an easy bike ride up the river is completed by a fun and slightly challenging kayak ride back down the river. You get a river view of... More

This is a great activity for tourists or locals. It's a pretty good workout, it's not an easy relaxing trip but it's a ton of fun and really pretty!!

LA River Kayak Safaris have begun their second year of offering an urban adventure for the whole family once kids reach the age where they can paddle their own kayak and enjoy the fun of possibly tipping over in a little rapid. The whole trip takes about 4 hours and includes biking upriver to the put in, beginning kayak instruction,... More
