I had an incredible experience learning to surf with Nick and Danny! From the very beginning, Nick was thorough and helpful with all the details, keeping up with me over digital communication and making sure everything went smoothly. His attentiveness really set the stage for a wonderful lesson.
Danny, my instructor, was truly amazing. His patience and encouragement helped calm my nerves, especially since I was a bit hesitant about trying something new and tackling the ocean for the first time. He has a great way of guiding you through the process while making sure you feel grounded and safe, even in the waves. Danny’s knowledge, paired with his kindness, made the lesson a positive and uplifting experience.
If you’re new to surfing or even just to the ocean, I highly recommend this team. They provide a supportive and welcoming learning space where you feel empowered to keep trying. I’m excited to continue building on what I learned today and will definitely be booking another lesson soon!

I sent 3 teenage boys for surf lessons with Aloha Brothers and they all had an amazing experience. Their instructor, Caroline, was really engaged and connected to each one of them. Every time they fell down, she'd give them helpful advice on how they could improve on the next wave. They learned a lot and truly had a blast!
It was a little overwhelming looking online for surf lessons in Venice. I'm so glad I called Aloha Brothers! Nick answered my call right away and did not give up until he found a fabulous instructor available during our small time window. Highly recommend.

Our experience with aloha brothers was great! We had a blast. Our instructor Jeff was very knowledgeable about water safety and surfing techniques/etiquette. My partner and I had never surfed before and this was a great first time.. we enjoyed it so much we want to pursue the sport back home. We arrived 15mins before our scheduled appointment - Nick sent a text saying the instructor would be a tad late but I didn't have data so we just waited and he arrived.. There is no signage of the company name at Nicks residence so we were a little sketched at first but everything worked out! Also on the website I filled out the booking form and never got a response so I just called and booked directly with Nick over the phone.
I recommend these guys, a small business that provides a professional service, Nick is great at communicating and Jeff is super nice if you have the chance to get him as your teacher!

Aloha took me surfing for three mornings at Venice Beach. The instructor was so friendly and fun and gave me some great pointers to help me get onto the high line immediately on take off. I felt really well looked after but not pressured at all, they were really patient and happy to go at my pace. The surf was quite busy but the crowd seemed really chilled and not intimidating at all. I can’t wait to come back to LA and surf Venice with the Aloha brothers again!

Realizei o meu sonho de surfar na praia de Venice na Califa graças ao Nick Fowler e meu instrutor Taylor!
Taylor sabe tudo de surfe e passou todas as info necessárias dentro e fora d’água pra um surge inesquecível!!!
Além da experiência na água, Nick respondeu todas minhas perguntas por msg já que eu não moro na cidade e fez toda a logística funcionar sem erro!!
Se você está procurando por uma série de classes ou só uma aula avulsa que nem eu fiz pode marcar com esses caras e terá a experiência que está buscando!!
Estou voltando pra minha cidade na costa leste dos EUA mas quando voltar pra Venice já sei aonde e com quem eu vou surfar de novo!!

What an amazing day in the surf!! Our instructor was Jeff, and from the very start, he proved that he was incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. He taught the class in a very engaging way, and each of us in the class were given ample attention. The provided gear was great, and the class was a success in every way! I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to TRULY learn how to surf from a seasoned instructor!!

We had a lesson with Jeff in Venice Beach, CA in June 2024. It was my first time surfing and my friend's second time (if a lesson from other non-professional surfer friends counts). Jeff knew so much about surfing and surf history; I feel like we learned a lot about how to properly and safely surf, but also about the great surfers around the world. He was extremely patient with us and adapted his teaching to our specific skills/needs as the lesson went on. We definitely improved over the course of the hour in the water and my friend even managed to stand up successfully a couple of times, which he couldn't do before. Overall, I would say it was a very rewarding and fun morning. If I lived in town, I would definitely be seeking lessons from Jeff consistently as I believe he could really turn someone from a complete newbie to a decent surfer.

Terrific operation - highly recommend. Nick was exceptionally responsive and helpful in setting things up. Instructor, Taylor, was great. Very good walking me through and patient with this first timer! Looking forward to going again my next trip!

What a perfect first surfing experience for my 3 kids (ages 7, 10, 12)! Nick, the owner, was extremely responsive with scheduling our lesson. Sean was our instructor. He was extremely patient and attentive. All 3 kids were able to get up on the board. We can’t wait to go again! Thanks Nick and Sean for a very memorable day.

Groups which unfortunately are currently unavailable until further notice from the authorities due to the pandemic are $85 for 90 min per person and private lessons are $160 and are also 90 min. Both prices include the board & wetsuit.

Aloha Brothers were very good. A class for just the two of them will definitely be a great option because they will have more time with an instructor.
I would suggest the teens be good swimmers and feel comfortable in the water. Have fun!

We don’t rent the gear after the lesson (we do provide it during our lessons though for all of our respective price points). Typically most of our students hit an energy wall roughly around the 60 min mark, but we give 90 min lessons just to make sure everyone gets their fix. If you would like to keep surfing after your lesson there are several shops in the area that we recommend that give our students rental gear discounts. Let me know if you decide to hit it, we would love to get you out there.

Sooner the better typically to ensure availability. We provide the boards and wetsuits for both group lessons ($85 for 90 min) and private lessons ($160 for 90 min). You just need to show up in your swimsuit w/a towel and we will take care of the rest.
