Neighborhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

    We love El Capitan!!!
We absolutely LOVE this theater. The first time I brought my daughter to see Frozen, then Mary Poppins. We are all going tomorrow night to see The Haunted Mansion. Are the tickets pricier than a regular theater? Yes, but I’m my opinion it is worth it. The experience is amazing, the theater is gorgeous and has history. They always have a little show before the movie, like they have an organ player on stage for this movie. Then in the basement, you can see props and costumes that were used in the actually movie where you can take pictures. Also, the Ghirardelli chocolate/ice cream shop is amazing and it’s right there too! It’s a fun family event!

    A must visit
We attended this evening to watch the 30th anniversary of Hocus Pocus. The theatre is stunning and the organ was a beautiful touch. It is a real gem on Hollywood Boulevard and a real throw back to the glory days of yester year. Its a real shame that the rest of the boulevard has not been kept in such a pristine state. The only down sides for us were we struggled to pay for concessions as we needed a physical card as Apple pay wasn't accepted and also the theatre itself was freezing cold. Aside from that it is truly wonderful venue.

Worth an afternoon show or special evening event
We enjoyed the experience. We sat on the main floor because of my daughter's vision issues, about three rows from the screen (but on the side). I would definitely recommend ensuring you sit in the middle aisles (and I think the balcony would provide a more unique experience). Definitely get there in time to hear the organist 30 minutes before your show: it's worthwhile if you are a Disney fan. Quite a cool setting to watch a movie. (My family scored it a 4.5/5.)

I love this theater and its vintage qualities; however, the chairs have become really uncomfortable now that AMC uses recliners. Audiences used to fill this theater constantly, now only openings seems to be their big draws. I am hoping they slowly start converting their seating over, as family that used to join us for movies here no longer want to attend due to the chairs.

It has a marvellous façade with many decorative features. The ornamentation continues within.

Opened in 1926 it has had an eventful backstory. Including being the theatre risking hosting the premiere of Orson Welles’s Citizen Kane in 1941.

Now owned by Disney it premiers their blockbuster films.

Our son took us and his family here to see the premier of "Onward". It was fun to see and hear the old time organ. And then a skit before the movie. It was so "Hollywood". We had a great time with our granddaughters and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Went to see Star Wars to this beautiful and iconic theatre. The seats are not very comfortable but it was a unique experience with the curtain and laser shows before the movie. Also Star Wars costumes were on display and there were photo ops with Stormtroopers and lightsabers.

My daughter and I watched a movie here during our stay in Los Angeles. I have never visited a movie theatre like this - it really is like an actual theatre not a cinema. Was a great experience and nothing like where I've ever been before - a definite must-do for any UK vistitors due to the difference at home.

Expensive tickets, long line outside in the heat, horrible customer service. I bought my tickets online in advance to see Maleficent (good movie) and there were lines wrapping around, they need assigned seating because it was a freakin mad house, the attendants act as if it was a free show they were incredibly rude, and what is the deal with the extra expensive experience for VIP's! VIP get a different long line and special concession stands, meantime everyone else who paid a ridiculous amount for our tickets stand in extra long concession stands. The experience was so unpleasant, I will NEVER be back! Theater seats are cramped and the view of the screen is not good and the show started over 20 mins late.

I am unsure if I will ever attend the El Capitan again after seeing Dumbo today.
I expected children being noisy, but the amount of talking, phone lights (including parents) and a child making constant noise including drumming on a popcorn bucket the whole time my friend and I missed the majority of dialogue going on throughout the film. We left the theater and asked doe a refund to be told "their system doesn't allow it".
There was no announcement about phone usage before our screening today and nobody upstairs to control the noise level or constant people texting, absolutely ridiculous! If you want to actually hear a film, do not watch it here!

This classic theatre is beautiful, and the Dolby Atmos sound and pre-show or special exhibits that accompany features here give seeing movies here the advantage over other places in the area. However, a recent poor guest service experience will cause me to think twice about returning and recommending this theatre. I purchased tickets in Nov 2016 for a screening of Newsies on Feb 16, 2017. I received a call in January saying that a corporation bought out the theater and the reserved seating I had purchased would now be general admission. If I wanted a reserved seat, I would have to change to a show later in the week. I asked if I would get some money back since my reserved orchestra seat would now be off to the side or upstairs. The answer was no. I already took off from work, so could not attend a different day. After the call I contacted management at the theatre, and the head of ticketing got back to me, saying that I should be grateful that the corporation is allowing me to see the movie with them! Excuse me? I purchased a ticket just like them, and purchased it first! The head told me there were hardly any pre-purchased tickets, to which I replied: why couldn't we have kept our seats then and let the corporation sit around us? She said that's not how the system works. This is extremely poor guest service to de-value a paying guest and make them feel unwelcome.
