The first two things you need to know are, there is a strict dress code, and you can only visit by being invited by a member. Once you've found a kind soul to invite you, you choose a dinner time and the doors open at 4:45. You can immediately grab a drink and start exploring. It's $25 per person for the entrance fee which isn't too bad considering you get to see lots of shows. Once you grab a drink you can take it with you into any area and into any show, and there are several bars through out the Castle. There is a parlor where a "ghost" plays any song you can think of on a piano. Pretty fun to do while you wait for a show or dinner. We grabbed a drink and then got in line for the first available show. For the most part the magicians are amateurs and so you shouldn't go in expecting David Blaine. But they are entertaining, especially the comedian magicians. The MOST impressive magicians though are the close up magic guys. They really are impressive. They are sprinkled through out the castle and you can happen on one as you walk around exploring. The best show we saw by far was by a bartender/magician named Nick down in the basement (every time I've gone the basement bar was where I saw the absolutely best magic). He did some card tricks that blew us all away! And he was hilarious to boot. Movie references and constant jokes through out his performance. I could have stayed in the basement the entire time. The other part worth mentioning is the excellence of the food. This was my third visit to The Castle but it had been so long I forgot anything about the food. Maybe it wasn't great before. But it is amazing now. WE had a group of 6 and between us we ordered the filet minion (Milton style which means your steak is topped with crab, asparagus and a cream sauce, so decadent) the beef Wellington, the Australian rack of lamb, tomahawk steak, lobster tail, crab bisque, mushroom soup, and curried cauliflower. Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. My filet was THICK and somehow still cooked perfectly all the way through. Dessert was a flourless chocolate lava cake with berries and that was yummy too. Not the best, but a nice ending to the meal. Overall a fantastic night. A very unique kind of thing to do in LA.

The Most Unique Place Ever!
It had been 40 years since my last visit. Took my wife and we had an incredible evening. If you think you have “seen everything” in life, you haven’t if you have never been to the castle. We went on a Friday night so it was very busy. Dinner was surprisingly superb. The steak was perfect and the banana cream pie was out of this world. You can’t take any pictures in the castle so people actually talk vs typing on their phones. The magic acts were great. Dress is formal, no jeans or sneakers and you must be at least 21 years of age for the evening events. If you stay at the magic castle hotel you can get into the castle otherwise you need to know a member to get in. Not a cheap evening out, but we’ll worth the expense. You will be amazed for your entire trip. What a magical experience. Really a unique experience that will be hard to beat!

One of our ladies was turning 60 and we wanted to do something special for her. We kept it a surprise and she was so excited when we pulled up to the Magic Castle. She had never been there. They gave our birthday girl a pin so everyone was saying Happy Birthday to her. They greeted us and told us where to go for the shows, which were so much fun and exciting. I would love to take my grandchildren here; they would love it. We saw a couple of shows and then had a wonderful brunch where they served delicious food like crab, large shrimp, prime rib and so much more. Everything was delicious. They also served mimosa's or just champagne if that is what you wanted. They then brought a dessert with a candle and helped sing Happy Birthday. The service was excellent. After brunch, we saw the final show. One of our girls got to go on stage with the Magician. So much fun!

Overall this was a fun evening in LA. The magic show we saw we very funny and entertaining and the house was a joy to explore. The little side magic show we saw from “El Ropo” was all amusing.
The reason for the 3/5 stars was dinner was mediocre at best, but for this price point was really disappointing. My NPH Old Fashioned was cloyingly sweet, our meal came out so quickly there was zero chance it was made to order, and the high pressure from the waiter to add as much to our check was really unnecessary. Unfortunately if you’re a guest you have to eat there, so just figure it into the cost of you evening.

Alrighty you've managed to get into the excuslive alluring Magic Castle that only few have had the opprotunity, now this isn't Club 33 but you can get into Nobu Malibu on a Saturday easier than getting into this famed establishment, and why? Just to say you did. A magician friend passed me the famed visitor card and I got away with a same day reservation for 3. The catch! You have to eat DINNER ($$$) you have to order an entree ($$$) you have to wait in 20-30min lines for Magic Shows and while you wait, they push drinks on you harder than the stripclub/comedy club alikes. Drinks? Drinks? Drinks? $$$$$$ I left spending over $160 just for me with an entrance fee not included in dinner. and the FOOD quality, not that impressed. Don't force an entree on me that you see on a cruise ship. It's overrated, try to go for Brunch with the kids, but other than that the crowd is 50+ couples. I had an alright time. Only place to park is VALET$, surprise.

Our 4 year old was so excited to see the magicians. We stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel, we were made aware of the dress code for adults attending the brunch so Hubby went out and bought new clothes and we were assured over the phone that the 4 year old and 1 year old needed to be in clean and tidy clothes but this was not as strict for the brunch or with children and we were still turned away at the door. Had a very upset 4 year old, asking why were we turned away? Because our 4 year old wasn't wearing a sports coat... it was upsetting and frustrating and yes had we been given other instructions or lived locally we could have popped home and changed but we were in the final stages of our trip from NZ and were not treated well. Parents beware the dresscode DOES apply to kids even at the brunch. Don't bother calling to confirm.

Wonderful evening of entertainment!! The food was prepared and presented nicely. Our filets were cooked exactly the way we ordered. This place is expensive. $45/per person cover charge + the meal. The meal for four people + tip was $630. The main show was excellent and the three small room magicians were also excellent. This place has a strict dress code. Men must wear a jacket.

The Magic Castle is a Hollywood gem! The private club full of magical nostalgia will leave you with a child like delight. When you first walk into the lobby, you will have to say the magic phrase so the secret door opens and lets you into a magical world of wonder and enchantment. The shows change weekly and the food menu changes with the season but the food is always great. The Magic Castle is a private club, so you will need to know a Magician who is a member for an invitation but it’s worth the extra effort. The only downside is there is no photography of any kind allowed inside past the lobby entry but that’s why it’s Hollywood’s best kept secret.

We were lucky to get an invite to the castle on a recent LA trip. It’s more a giant mansion with lots of weird little rooms, big rooms, strange passageways and a pretty decent restaurant. Magicians are performing all over, in every nook and cranny. There are a few headliners that you must have tickets for and wait in line to get in to. Even if you never saw one of these shows, however, you’d be very entertained by everything else going on.

Nice Birthday Experience! We got an invite to the Magic Castle and decided to go for a birthday experience. We had Jeffrey as our waiter and his service was excellent. For dinner we had the Beef Wellington and the Sea Bass, which were good. We loved the dark mysterious ambiance. Our magic performance featured David Goldrake and he was amazing. Very cool how he included the audience. Overall a very nice evening and would recommend to anyone looking to add a little magic to their life !!

Hi there
We are visiting from Canada and hope to go for brunch. Is a jacket required for men and boys or just a collared shirt? I was thinking heels or Mary Janes for the girls and sundresses? Will we be let in or turned away?

My group has a late dinner seating on a Friday (9:45pm). How should we plan our evening so that we get the most out of the Magic Castle experience? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I would get there early like 6 pm. This time of year of castle is very busy. Might want to call them and see if you can get your tickets to the main showroom and for sure catch that show before dinner. When we were there we had dinner at 6 pm and then went to the big show. I believe they only do 2 shows per night in the big room. All of the other showrooms are smaller and the shows were all fantastic! Truly a magical experience. Have fun!

We will be coming for my daughter’s 21 birthday, on her 21 birthday, she will have the horizontal Id, will they serve her?

if she's 21, then she's legal to drink. Her ID will show her age no matter what version it is. It goes by date.
Is required dinner purchase a new thing? I went about 10 years ago and didn’t have to spend $60-$90 on plate of food. A magician friend invited me but there’s no way we can go if we’re forced to order dinner.

To be safe , should my senior citizen sister and I use valet parking? Is there any other option, I’ve already taken out a 2nd mortgage to visit the magic castle. 😏

My wife & I have been to the Magic Castle many many years ago when we were in our twenty’s. We are now young seniors in our early seventies and very very active. Can we get a pass to take friends to this prestigious establishment again if we know no one personally that are members. We would love to go again with guests (four guests.) thank you.

Can you buy gift certificates for the Castle?
If yes can they be used for dinner?

No gift cards available as it is a private club.
I have a guest pass from a few years ago. Is it still good? Does it have an expiration>?
