The Old Hollywood walking Tour with Damien was fabulous. Had a small group with folks from Moscow and Canada, which made the two hour tour that much more interesting - great to connect with travelers from all over the world. Damien was terrific: full of knowledge, pace was perfect, insight and behind the scenes info really fascinating and so much fun to know. A walking tour is THE way to feel part of a city, especially one as huge as LA. I would definitely take another "Real Los Angeles Tour" and recommend that everyone make time for it. Don't miss this one.

Loved my tour with Sonya! We did the Hollywood Blvd/Downtown/Santa Monica tour! She was very informative about the TRUE history of LA, including Art, Architecture, and Entertainment. It was so enjoyable and honestly made touring LA so easygoing and stress free. We didn’t have to worry about where to eat, where the nearest restroom was, etc. We got some insider information and got to visit places that we wouldn’t have seen on our own or even on a tour bus. It felt very personalized and intimate. 10/10 recommend.

I am a resident Angeleno, and I had never before explored the downtown area. So when I researched online for a tour to go on and came across Free (read that again, FREE) L.A. Tours, I thought it was too good to be true. After an incomparably enjoyable and educational experience, I am delighted to report that it is not only absolutely too good, but also most fortunately true.

My tour guide Rob was enthusiastic, informative, and funny. His voice sounded like Charlie Day's from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Whenever I asked him to speak up due to city noise and traffic (welcome to L.A., or ANY OTHER METROPOLITAN AREA EVER), he not only immediately and enthusiastically obliged, but smoothed over the potential awkwardness with a biting and perfectly timed joke. If this man isn't on a sitcom in the next few years, it would be criminal.

In short: incredibly instructive and entertaining, truly unparalleled for a free tour. The suggested contribution of $10 is a pittance compared to the knowledge gained and the experience had. I actually ended up giving $20. Would highly recommend to both visitors and long-time residents.

Perhaps it was just our group but we were quite disappointed. Maybe it was advertising the tour as "free" but then requesting $15 per person. Where we are from that is false advertising. We didn't think much of the tour itself, but the money "request" was a real turn off.

Hey Jeff, sorry you don't seem to have enjoyed our tour. We try to make things as clear as possible regarding the contributions and it's all explained on our website and on trip advisor, if you look at the description above. Thanks though for giving us a try.

Forget the fading glory of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the bus tours to anonymous houses and the movie star look-a-likes: put your best foot forward and join the Free LA Tour guides who will show you the real Los Angeles. Two different tours a day give you an insight into the rise and unfortunate demise of this fascinating sprawling city. From the architecture of the Spanish style pueblo, the fading elegance of hotels and movie theatres to the people who made the city what it is today. These tours must be top of your list. Knowledgable guides who are always trying to find out more and add detail and anecdotes to their already full two hour wanders. The tour is as they say free but you will be more than happy to give some money to support this venture. See beyond the glitz and glamour - take a Free LA Tour!

Really enjoyed this walking tour! I backpacked through Europe last year for over 2 months & went on countless free walking tours which I found were much better then any paid walking tour. I thought "when will this happen in LA" and BOOM here is my answer! So excited to take friends/relatives on this tour again later this year! Our tour guide (can't remember his name now) was extremely knowledgeable & entertaining.

I found out about this free LA during an Internet source of things to do in downtown LA. I decided to take the 10 am tour to get an introduction to the city before exploring on my own. My tour guide Angela was great and very informative! The history of the area is very fascinating and the tour is designed in a way to keep you entertained. The *free price also makes it the best deal of any tour in town. I happened to be the only person on the tour so Angela took the extra time to show me some extra spots and help me decide what to explore on my own. Thanks for all the great advice and the awesome tour of downtown! I definitly reccomend it to anyone who has never been downtown.

We had a couple of spare hours before flying out of LA and decided to take a tour of down tour. Met at 10am outside the Union station our guide Grant. He bought the area to life with his enthusiasm and knowledge. We had walked around part of the area already and hadn't noticed lots of things he pointed out, his stories really bought the area to life. We made the suggested donation of $10 -15 per person which was definitely worth every cent. Much better than lots of other tours I have done.

I recently visited LA with some friends. As we were new to the city, we decided to go on this tour to learn a little about the area, after all it was free! Our tour guide was Grant and he was fantastic, super knowledgeable and witty, we had great fun with him! We learnt a lot on this tour and had a great time doing so, the Bradbury building and the Million Dollar Theater in particular were very interesting to learn about.

I would fully recommend this tour to anybody visiting downtown LA, ask for Grant and enjoy!
