Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

Our first time inside this magnificent building. First time seeing/hearing the L.A. Phil perform. Highly recommend trying for the Rush tickets that go on sale two hours before the performance to see if you can score discounted senior rate tickets (for 65 and over). Also, if you buy in advance there are a limited number of $20 tickets available with no age requirement. We had seats in the balcony facing the orchestra and had a wonderful experience both visually and auditory. Not a bad seat in this place!

We visited in late October 2021 just as the Delta variant was at it's lowest wave length and right before Omicron hit. So, we had someone locally guide us around the Disney Hall exterior design. We never entered since performances were not being held even then and not open to the public in general.

It was a nice clear day and we got to really immerse ourselves in the Frank Gehry designed structure outside. In 2018 we visited the Bilbao Museum in Bilbao, Spain. So, we were reminded once again of the genius of this architect.

We learned during our guided private tour that there was also much to see and absorb as we walked throughout the community park area. It's really a hidden gem and you should take your time experiencing this. I'll write a separate review and photos of this aspect.

Needless to say, it's well worth the price (FREE) to spend an hour or so walking around and through this beautifully designed exterior.

Disney Hall is superb in just about every way. The hall's famous architecture is stunning inside and out, and the resident LA Phil is truly a world-class orchestra. With excellent acoustics throughout the hall, there really isn't a bad seat from a sound standpoint; it really comes down to your viewing preference and budget. My favorite seats are in Orchestra East, where there is a great view of both the orchestra and conductor.

Parking is cheap and easy in the hall's garage, and there is usually less traffic at the Lower Grand Ave entrance. It's also a short walk to the Civic Center Metro station at 1st and Hill. LA Phil performances seem to always start 5-7 minutes late, but do plan on arriving early to walk from the garage and find your seat. In addition to a very pricey cafe, you can also check out the cool gardens and gift shop while you're there.

I highly recommend the self-guided audio tour of the concert hall. Don’t forget to bring your earphones! My favorite parts include the garden (so peaceful and leafy) and the rooftop (you can see what’s behind the curved walls). Everyone who works here is super helpful, especially the lady who guarded the entrance to the garden on June 20, 2022. She helped us navigate the place and explained about some of the rooms we couldn’t access because they were locked.

Seeing Disney Hall was a priority for us when we visited LA, and it did not disappoint. It's a spectacular Frank Gehry building, with a concert hall that has superb acoustics. It is open to the public almost every day to come in and wander around, using their self-guided audio tours or not. There is a lovely peaceful garden off the third level if you just want to sit and veg out. We were lucky enough to get tickets to an LA Phil concert with Dudamel conducting so had the full experience.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is located in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles. Parking is for a fee in several lots nearby.

The hall was designed by Frank Gehry, a famous architect known for his buildings that have a lot of steel and some of it bends. I am not a fan, but it is a place to see. Some find it stunning and you might as well. I find it busy.

The interior is lovely with comfortable seating. It is kept clean and the bathrooms are well maintained.

The sound of the hall is wonderful. For the most part classical music is played there by the Phil and others. They also have chamber music and jazz now and again. What I love is their organ. It is beautiful and the best sound you will hear out of any organ. It has huge pipes and was designed for this building.

We saw an organ player there and it was quite magical.

There is food nearby. I do not know if their eatery is open, as it was closed last time we were there. But there are good places to eat near by. You can call them and see if they have any dinner options available. If not, call Kendall's which is a very short walk right on Grand Ave. You can see it from one part of the hall.

It is something you want to go to at least once. It is special.

Interesting building inside and out - sweeping curves of metal on the exterior makes for a striking aesthetic. Worth a visit and the self guided tour was informative. Shame the main hall was closed at the time of our visit.

I came here to see Evgeny Kissin awhile back and the architecture is really beautiful, inside and out. It is a really wonderful place to enjoy classical music concerts in and meet an artist. Parking was also easy and accessible. We definitely would like to return again when there are concerts.

We have season tickets and attend about 20 concerts there a year, divided between evenings and matinees.
Our favorite seats are located in Orchestra East. We sit above the orchestra and can see all of the orchestra members. It is on the piano side....so we can see the playing. We can also see a side view of the conductor and thus watch the conductors moves. The sound everywhere in the auditorium is great.......

This is a music center offering musical concerts. However I visited this on New Year's Day and one can roam around the outside of this multi-faceted building by following one of several staircases leading up off the street. It is possible to get pretty high up and get some great photos from above. There is even a lovely garden about midway up where one can rest and enjoy a respitfrom the noise of the streets below.
