Established in 1934, when a dozen local farmers parked their trucks on an open field (once a dairy farm) to sell fresh produce to local residents, the Market has remained true to its roots ever since. With nearly 100 dining, shopping and grocery opportunities, Farmers Market has something for everyone. More than seventy-five years later the Farmers Market remains the one stop shop for every visitor’s needs.

Farmers Market is a fantastic way to spend a Sunday in LA. It's full of different eateries selling a vast array of produce at rock bottom prices. Right next to Farmers Market is the Grove , which is basically an outdoor shopping mall with a number of outlets.

I feel like I am being generous by rating this 4/5. Farmers Market is definitely a cool thing to do while visiting LA, but if you are limited on time, there are better things to do. We only spent about 2hrs here exploring the market and the Grove. The bottom line is that there just isn’t a whole lot to... More

In my trip planning research for LA, I don't remember reading about this place, but it is amazing and well worth the time! There are many different restaurants and shop fronts; I wished I could spend all day there. We ate some of the best pancakes in the world at Du-Par's and then topped those off with coffee-in-a-waffle at Waffleshot.... More

When I was a girl and we came to LA, we never visited the Original Farmers Market - I can't believe we never came! My children - now teens - love the Market. It couldn't be more different from our famous home market - Pike Place in Seattle. Both offer spectacular opportunities... The main thing here is food food food.... More

We (family of 4 travellers) read about these markets in a hotel magazine - what a find! If you want to try local food, wines, cheeses, patisseries, chocolates, etc, etc, then these markets are well worth a visit. Note: this isn't a fancy, pretentious place - just go with the flow and enjoy the atmosphere. And visit Pampas Grill -... More

I was not expecting this type of ambient, i was really suprised and impressed. Fresh food, vegetables, fruits, quite warm restaurants, taste of local culture etc. I will definetely put Farmers Market in my trip plan for the next time.

You think "farmer's market" you think people selling various types of produce that they grew themselves. Well, not here. There's a small produce market, but it's very small. Mostly this place is a lot of food stands. There is a fresh fish counter, and a "gourmet" grocery with lots of French stuff in it. But mostly you appear to come... More

This was probably pn of my favourite places to visit in LA. There was a fabulous eating area with a wide range of choices. There was also some lovely shops and the Christmas decorations were lovely
