Used to be in vogue but now may have been out of season (March).
No queues not buzzing and in fact quiet!
Drinks still pricey!

We visited the Sky Bar on our recent trip to LA, the service is really good and our waitress was pleasant and welcoming. We had a poolside / window seat with fantastic views over LA. It's is a trendy place, so make sure you book as it gets busy. Only down side is its a little pricey - but with a visit.

I thought I was headed to a rooftop bar but instead it was a view of LA from inside the pool area. The service was good but at times a but slow, as I think lunch to dinner shifts were changing. The menu was limited but we found a few items like the Charcuterie Board which was good, and the Oysters. Then later we had something from the dinner menu, such as the Brussels Sprouts which were excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed and the hotel is clean.

If you like cheap po*rn, this is the place to go to.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband while on a business trip. The bar Sky bar outside is more like a porn movie where employees serve drinks and food half-naked with their breasts and all body parts spilling out, pretty much selling their bodies to get a good amount of tip. I've never seen a "luxury" hotel that has employees showing that much skin. It's inappropriate and what's even more inappropriate is that the waitress we had at the skybar was flirting with my husband non-stop. AND THATS NOT WHERE IT ENDS.

The blond waitress exchanged phone numbers with my husband and kept texting him day and night. Is this the kind of hotel you are??? Cheap blond naked girls hitting on married men to get tipped? Good luck. I sure as hell won't be coming back and I'll make sure my friends dont either!

If you delete this review, I'll make sure to write a nice blog about it and post it all over the place.

On 8/7/09, my wife and I visited Sky Bar to have a few cocktails and a good time. We were dressed very nice and had plenty of money to spend. Upon arrival, I ran to the mens room and my wife waited for me by the front door. My wife is tall, blonde and attractive but she is also 50 years old. The bald foreign manager came up to her and told her she "Needed to move along, that they don't need 'her kind' there. " She asked him what he meant by that and he insinuated that she was a "Hooker". When I came out she told me what he said and when I asked him why he would call her a hooker, I was immediately surrounded by several "bouncers" looking for a fight. The Sky Bar is a joke and we CAN NOT understand how on earth they can stay in business treating customers that way, especially in this economy. We will be sure to tell everyone we know about our horrible experience and to avoid Sky Bar on Sunset Strip. For a good time, great service and good food, we recommend the Tower Bar and Restaurant at the Sunset Tower next door.

All the employees have total attitudes and we were treated with complete disrespect despite the fact that we were 2 guys and 5 hot girls wanting table service.

So many better places in L.A. where you won't be treated like crap!

Don't waste your time or money!

This place used to be hot, and therefore, pretentious, now it's just pretentious. We went for a drink early, so we didn't see the party scene, it didn't start yet but the service is nonexistent, we waited what seemed like forever for a waitress to show up, she informed us that "The table is reserved and the SECOND the party shows up we have to leave" even thought there were plenty of empty tables, as I said, we went early. I get it, I've been to plenty of clubs and lounges, I know how it works but there is a different way to say it. The drinks took forever and a day to arrive, we actually considered leaving. The view is top notch, we saw the view, time to go. But finally they were brought. I am a kind person and left the waitress over 30% tip - she actually rolled her eyes. NOT PLEASANT. What else, at $17 a cocktail, I want a real drink, I want it to taste and smell amazing and it really tasted like a cocktail from an all-inclusive resort plus the plastic cup minus the umbrella.
I wouldn't go back. LA has a ton of places with beautiful outdoor sitting, poolside bars, courtyards filled with exotic plants, amazing design and lighting. This city is filled with gorgeous views with outdoor patios due to the amazing climate.
Oh, the worst part, on a beautiful warm night, the whole place was covered with plastic, and you can smoke there, so it was stuffy and smelly.

The customer service was less than that we experienced at other bars on Sunset Boulevard. The prices were the most expensive we paid on the strip. The experience was made even worse after a large cockroach emerged from right underneath the couch we were sitting on. When we bought this to the attention of the management nothing was done to 'make good' this unpleasant experience.

This is the email I sent to Jay Headley the General Manager of Skybar.

Hi Jay,
I wanted to thank you in person when we left on Saturday night but you were busy and I did not want to disturb you. I sent an email thanking Erica at The Ivory the other day and wanted to make sure to email and thank you as well. Skybar was always our favorite place and it was special to come back and to be able to spend my birthday there with so many friends. The place is, I would say as nice as ever, but the truth is that it is even better then we remember it and I am sure its because of you and your team.
Thank you for helping us as we truly appreciate it very much. We will definitely be back in the very near future and very much look forward to seeing you again.

Thank you again!
Best,

He and his team are truly 5 star and this is coming from someone who is hard to please.... Go see them as it used to be, is now and will continue to be the best bar-lounge in Los Angeles, if not the west coast. Its just a place you never want to leave!
