We had a great ebike 3 hour tour of the Hollywood area. Our guide was Mickey and he was awesome. He was so knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. He was great for showing us photo op spots and gave us some great recommendations around the city. I would definitely recommend Bike and Hikes for an ebike tour and make sure you request Mickey!

Great tour guide

Our tour guide was great. It is a rainy cloudy day and the Hollywood sign was not visible but she made it educational and fun. As educators in Florida we gained information that we will definitely take back to our students. 5 stars for the experience, 4 stars only because we didn’t see the sign.

Fantastic e-bike tour, don't miss this one!

If you take only use one tour company in LA, this is the one to use. I joined a tour around Hollywood, checking in with Kris who smoothly set me up with an e-bike, helmet, and bottled water. Mickey was a fantastic guide, with lots of great info and stories. He also carried extra water for the group, which was a lifesaver. Make sure you bring water as well, you can't have too much! I've never used an e-bike before and I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it was. It was a great way to spend the afternoon. I can't wait to do it again!

Friendly helpful staff but sub par bicycles

We rented two road bikes from B&H to do a self guided tour round the Hollywood reservoir and up behind the Hollywood sign.

I found the staff friendly and helpful providing advice for riding in LA traffic and guidance on our route. We made it to the sign, had a pleasant ride round the reservoir, and to be honest had a better time cycling in LA/Hollywood traffic than I expected.

That said the quality of the bikes left a little to be desired. Firstly they were more gravel/cyclocross bikes rather than road bikes and had noticeably short stems. This meant they handled a little twitchier than we were expecting on the road.

Secondly both my wife and I found the gearing a little on the low side with us grinding at low cadences on slight inclines and eventually pushing the bikes towards the top of the road to the sign. We are no stranger to climbing on our bikes but have never gotten off and pushed before so this was a bit frustrating (although we did joke that the company is called Bikes AND Hikes after all).

Finally, and most egregious, were the brakes on my wife's bike. The pads were either glazed over or worn out so she had little to no braking power. This was not a good combination with the downhill from the Hollywood sign. We ended up just walking the bikes at that stage. In the end our planned 2h excursion took us closer to 4.

With all that said I will note is that we didn't bother returning to the store or contacting the company to see about swapping the bikes; we just continued on and did what we wanted to do before returning the bikes and saying no more than thanks. To that end we did not give them the opportunity to rectify the situation and improve this review.

Sun Kissed, Salt Sprayed and Happy

Absolutely fantastic day. I wanted to plan a fun day to mark the end of two weeks training for my team, half who had just transferred to LA with our company. Also to be able to show the newbies a little bit of LA. Jason and Danny couldn’t be more helpful with the planning and booking, mapping at an itinerary that worked with a wide variety of fitness levels.

Erik, our tour guide, is excellent. He is fun, high energy and brought so much life to the tour. We did have a challenge with a team member who had difficulties riding and at our first stop helped us organize a tricycle so they could comfortably stay on the ride with us

Kris, our beach host, is great fun. Our beach area was set up, he made sure we had a great lunch and enjoyed volleyball, corn hole, connect four and some time in the surf.

From our red carpet arrival, the ride, lunch and games on the beach to the behind the scenes work everything was easy and so much fun!!

We finished the day sun kissed, salt sprayed and sandy and so so happy! Thank you!!

Amazing experience and a must to hike with Bikes and Tours LA

We went on a 2.5 hour hike today with Katie, despite the bad weather which meant we couldn’t see the sign Katie kept the spirits really high telling us some amazing stories and facts which we would never have known before the hike, the fog lifted a little on the way down and we saw the sign which was a great end to the hike! On the way up it was a great pace for all abilities (something we were worried about before in case we couldn’t keep up) and Katie made sure we made stops along the way, made us all feel comfortable from the beginning and told us about what we could see on the way up. I don’t think we would have enjoyed it half as much if it wasn’t for Katie as her enthusiasm, positivity and imagination just made the whole hike great! I don’t feel you could do this hike on your own as she had a great route to take. It was an amazing experience even with the torrential rain and thick white fog! Definitely a must to go with this tour company, even down to telling us when to order our ubers and making sure we got them ordered was a lovely touch (I would definitely recommend an uber to the meeting point as we got a taxi on the way there and it was triple the cost of an uber!) Thank you Katie, you made our trip to LA even more memorable!

Adult Family - great activity and experience

Family of 5 with 18+ children rode the 3 hour celebrity tour around Beverly Hills with Eric H and had a great time. Really fun and informative and a great way to spend New Years Say morning.

Eric H was a great source of information and entertainment- you can see his passion for his job and his city! Highly recommend- there are a few hills so if worried the Ebike is option is worth the money.

Highly recommend.

Treat refund policy with caution....

I have no reason to doubt that this company offers a fantastic service in normal times. Booking process was easy with plenty of useful info on the website. The flexibility of refunds was also a big appeal.

However these aren't normal times and this is written with that in mind. Unfortunately I had to cancel a planned trip; this was acknowledged promptly and courteously with a refund promised. Since then (over 6 weeks) no refund has arrived and e-mails are being ignored.

I genuinely wish no ill-will on this firm and I hope all its staff are keeping safe. However it appears to still be offering its services, with flexible refunds a part of this. Therefore if you're looking to rely on that particular aspect, please treat it with caution...

LA in a Day on Wheels!

The entire bike shop crew was awesome- Chris was super friendly and helpful getting us registered, lunch set, and waivers signed! Ahmed, our tour guy was INCREDIBLE and our LA in a day was just fabulous!! Ahmed was so perfect for our adventure!! He was charming, charismatic, comedic (really- so sweet and funny!! One day he’ll be famous and we’ll see him doing standup), knowledgeable, kind, accommodating, and well- just down right enjoyable!! He’s also THE BEST photographer!! The sights that we were able to see and visit were all the best things that you hear about, see on the movies, and hope to experience when you’re in LA. Lunch was also a hit for us.

If you’re up for a 38 mile ride, this is the most incredible West Hollywood/Beverly Hills to Marina Del Ray/Venice tour (and all the places in between) to experience!

All day LA E-bike tour

Great way to see the LA with active teenagers. Covered over 30 miles and worked in tours of West Hollywood, B Hills, Bel Air, S Monica, Venice, MDel Ray, and Culver City. Lots of stops with great info from Mickey! Great day!
