I've been here perhaps ten times (in old venue and current). I also know not to expect much from food at a music club (anyone remember the Bottom Line in New York?), but my most recent visit to Catalina was a new low. Calamari, as you might expect, was rubbery, but something called "flatbread" with spinach, garlic, and parmesan, was appalling. You might think a pizza-esque item. This was a ... cracker, a 7x5 cracker with two perforations. On it was some raw spinach, tossed in oil (maybe vinaigrette), and a teaspoon of cheese. A knife is useless for this. You have to crack it at the perforation and then try to balance some slippery raw spinach on the cracker. It is hideous and about $17. Two glasses of gasoline, sorry, white wine, the cracker and calamari - $57. I gave it two stars because you can hear some great music here, but the overall experience is contemptible.

We went to celebrate Blinky's (Singer/Songwriter) 75th birthday show. It was four of us ( me, my husband, my sister, and a friend) that went.

Enjoy the show with some drinks. It's a place to watch a show, not a place to eat. The Catalina is similar to most concert venues in LA. Eat before you arrive. Have fun!

The music is great but the service, food and attitude of the staff is the worst it could be. I have been there more than once and I returned hoping it would improve, it got worse. Stay away!

This is a go-to place for jazz when in Los Angeles. The food is good --but not outstanding. Who would expect more of a venue that really is devoted to music? The price of tickets for performances and for food are very reasonable --bearing in mind that this is Los Angeles. The audience is well-behaved (!), making it suitable for older kids, if they are part of your family.
