I'm already a fan of architecture but I was hoping a tour would be a way that I could learn more--and I wasn't disappointed! Laura's knowledge of LA's architectural gems was absolutely worth the price of a tour, even though I'm a local. We covered some buildings I drive by all the time but now I know the stories behind them and it makes the neighborhood so much more exciting and deep. You also get bits of the city's history too because our buildings are often closely tied what's going on at the time.

One of the things I like about these tours is that they are in small groups so it's easy to see and ask questions. (And I have a lot of questions!) Laura's van is clean and she's a very safe driver.

I enjoyed these tours so much that I intend to go back and take more. It's a fun way to spend a day off. Overall, I would recommend these tours to both tourists and locals because there is a lot here for everyone.

I have taken my mom on 3 tours with Laura and we can't wait to do all of them! Some we plan to do again. Laura has amazing knowledge and facts about Los Angeles and she imparts it in a casual, intelligent and interesting way. Her enthusiasm is infectious. You don't want her to stop talking!

The van is comfortable and we have taken a tour on a blistering hot day as well as a cool, sweater weather day and she manages to keep you comfortable. An added treat is the books she's written which are a nominal fee.

We are Los Angeles natives and we thought we had seen almost everything. Laura has opened a whole new world in our hometown.

I have been coming to LA and chipping away at its rich history for nearly ten years and one of my favourite things to do is book a trip with Laura! Last time was Silverlake which was incredible and this time was old Hollywood. Laura has a way to take you back in time on these tours and make it feel as if you’re right there...back in the 20s in this case. The tour was so detailed and I always find myself wanting more more more!

Every time I make new plans for LA, I know booking these tours are an absolute must as the tours make you feel the electric energy in this city with the most incredible architectural history xx

My wife and I booked Laura for two tours while we were in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. We took the Downtown LA and the Beverly Hills/Hollywood tours and had a delightful time. Laura really knows her architectural history and showed us some really special places in the Hollywood/Beverly Hills area. We especially recommend the Downtown LA tour for an excellent introduction to the LA area. She took us to the unique districts that make up LA: the theater district, Little Tokyo, the Garment District, Chinatown, and Angelino Heights were standouts. We look forward to coming back for the Pasadena tour. There is so much more to see and learn. Thanks for a great two days out.

I highly recommend this tour. Laura Smith is an excellent guide. She combines her architectural expertise with anecdotes about the city of Los Angeles, its celebrities, and its history. It was fascinating from start to finish. And I love having a guidebook to take home and learn even more.

This is the best way to see Los Angeles. In a city with a lot to love, but also a lot to love, you get only the love. L.A. has some of the best buildings in the country - in fact in the world. Laura is the best guide to introduce you to it. I did a whopping five tours: 1. The West Hollywood/Beverly Hills 2. Hancock Park/Miracle Mile 3. Downtown L.A. 4. Pasadena 5. Silver Lake. My favorite was the Pasadena, as it's so peaceful and romantic. Not only does Laura give you the low down on the built environment, but she also gives you social history, such as the water history of Silver Lake, and, yes, yes, about the movie stars. There are some places unique to L.A., such as these 1920s fairy tale cottages. I know a lot about buildings, but I still learned a lot, and found a new appreciation for traditional Spanish buildings (there are 5 distinct styles here.) Architects will appreciate Architecture Tours L.A. but also lay people.

I took a tour in January 2020 with Laura in Silver Lake. To reiterate what’s already been said here, Laura is incredibly knowledgeable. She has been invited inside many of the iconic homes on the tour so she has some insight on the interiors as well.
The tour was like spending time with a friend who happens to be an expert in architecture!
Also, I really fell in love with Silver Lake; I saw and learned a lot that I wouldn’t have on my own and now understand why it’s such a desirable place to live.

I'm looking forward to taking another one of Laura's tours! Out-of-town friends are coming to town for an in-depth tour of Los Angeles and have invited me to join them on Laura's Silver Lake tour. Laura has a gift for making our city come alive by pointing out hidden gems that are often overlooked, and sharing stories about architects and historic buildings that are fascinating (whether you're an architecture buff or not). Her popular tours have been covered by local news channels and are quite simply the best.

Laura took us on a very impressive and informative tour of L.A.'s interesting and unique mid-century architectural history. Not only was the tour amazing, but Laura herself was an incredible tour guide. She was extremely knowledge, friendly, and charismatic and really made the tour stand out in my experience of L.A. I even contacted her some months after my tour, asking for further information about L.A.'s architecture on my daughter's behalf, and Laura was quick to respond and extremely helpful. She really went above and beyond to help me out and provide even more information.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see a different side of L.A. and learn a great deal about its history. A highlight of my trip!

We signed up for Architecture Tours L.A. Silver Lake tour when we first moved into the area. Laura gave us an unforgettable experience that launched my interest in the area's iconic architecture. I'm grateful for her knowledge, particularly on Los Angele Modernist; she helped open my eyes to what a wonderful community we live in.
