Neighborhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

Our family visited the Museum of Illusions as a planned Christmas excursion. The staff was cordial and informative. Instructions were concise and extremely helpful. Diagrams were strategically posted to make it possible to capture the best moments ever. We could not have been more pleased with our adventures. We were able to ride on the trunk of an elephant, share a drink with the Statute of Liberty, and even balance on the ledge of a big city skyscraper as we engaged with all of the fun illusions. This was just the start. Where else could we travel so many different places and have so much fun in one building? The layout of the museum was appealing to both the young and more mature members of our family, especially the upside-down world rooms. The 1000 plus pictures we were able to take of each other, whether solo or in a group, turned out exceptionally! Due to the interesting angles we were able to create with the tripod provided by the staff (at no extra cost), many of our pictures taken with our personal phones are now the rave of the internet! Visiting the Museum of Illusions definitely created fun memories that our family will be able to share for a long time!

My mom, daughter and I were very excited to attend our platinum VIP experience that I had purchased us for Christmas.

We arrived 30 prior to our scheduled time because we knew that traffic could be a little crazy in the LA area. The girls at the check in desk were extremely pleasant and helpful. Apparently the photographers do not come in until 12 (our scheduled start time) so we were told that we could walk around the museum and explore until it was time for our session to start. We wandered around the museum taking some photos on our own until 12.

Our photographer (whos name can be provided upon request) was late to arrive, and our session did not start until about 12:15. During our session, we were extremely rushed. The photographer would briefly show us how to pose, snap a few quick photos, and rush on to the next illusion. I didn't think much of it because the photos were going to be edited after the session.

We received our photos 2 days after our visit to the museum. Upon reviewing the photos I was incredibly disappointed in the look of the photos. There was little to no editing. Other Illusions were visible in many of the photos, there was a glare on the illusions which could have been avoided if the photographer was diligent in ensuring that he was standing in the proper place and at the correct angle. The example photos for people taking their own photos on the wall were visible in the illusion photos that had been "edited."

I had to spend additional time re-editing the photos and the majority of the photos that we took ourselves were better than the "professional" photographer's photos. Considering the fact that I spent over $400 on this visit, I expected a lot better quality.

Save the money, rent the tripod and take your own photos. The VIP experience is not worth even half of what it costs. And the "gift" was a waterbottle, ink pin and chap stick.

My daughter and I had an absolutely fantastic experience! We decided to go for the VIP pass to capture some special moments together without having to rely on someone else for photos. The VIP package cost $250.00 and gave us access to all areas. Our photographer, Riel, was amazing. He guided us on posing for perfect shots, and we never felt rushed. Each area provided numerous photo opportunities, and there were some we didn't explore (by choice). While you can enjoy the experience without the VIP pass, if you're after exceptional photos, VIP is the way to go. It was completely worth it for us, especially for creating lasting memories. I was told I'd receive the edited photos by email in 5-7 days, but I actually got the link about 2 hours after we left. It contained about 87 photos, which made my day. Just a reminder, the illusion is created with the photos, and if you do it on your own, there are instructions on the wall to help you create the perfect image. The smash room was also a blast, though it's not included in the price. The extra cost is $20 per person, and you get three plates to decorate and then throw at the wall to smash! My daughter absolutely loved this. Ask for Riel and he loves coffee so be sure to tip him good so he can grab a few extra cups to stay awesome.

Original concept of graphic optical illusion, but too expensive.
Around twenty paintings painted on the walls, to give optical illusions, on 2 levels. The concept is pretty good, but it's not a museum. $100 for a family of 4, we stayed there for 30 minutes.

A complete rip-off! Don't waste your time, energy and hard-earned money! Once indoors, they want to rent you a tripod for $$$ so you can take "correct" pictures of the "illusion" that are just wall paintings. There is a VIP package where photographers follow you and take your photos, but of course costs twice the regular admissions. And what made the experience even more frustrating was the rude and unhelpful staff. Family of 3, 8 year old boy.

Would have given it 5 stars, but the wait to get in was ridiculous. Understand they were understaffed because they weren't expecting the "rush" the day after Christmas but seemed like they should have called someone in to help. Otherwise, it was a LOT of fun. A little spendy, but we got Groupon tickets so it was worth it. Don't think would have paid full price for it, though.

Overall we had a nice time and got some good pictures. But it was so crowded and the murals overlapped so it was very hard to get pictures without people standing in your way or without you standing in other people’s way. Maybe if they let less people in at a time then it would’ve been better, but then that would make the line outside longer. It would’ve been better if the murals didn’t overlap each other.

We were looking for something to do during off time from March Madness. Easy access, reservations requested and made prior to arrival. Walked from our hotel, unsure about parking. A bit pricey for what is there. Takes about 30-40 minutes...and we stopped to read about each exhibit. There was an adult group of us and we enjoyed it very much. Each exhibit was fun, challenging and interesting. Staff pleasant and helpful.

We had fun here, is not a 5 star thing but is fun. The line was small and as well the place was clean, some of the pics required you be on the floor. I love the Trump one. some Ilusión make no sense or are hard to see, but either way was fun.

Has anyone noticed this man hanging around the Museum of Illusions in Hollywood? Wednesday night he was caught following and taking inappropriate pictures of my daughter through out the museum. At low angles. Her boyfriend confronted the man and saw he was deleting 44 pictures of her butt. They spoke to the staff who did nothing and dismissed them. He seemed to be friends with the staff as he was hanging out and talking to them in a foreign language and laughing with them.
