Bought tickets online, which was a must do, went on a Monday, got to the parking lot area 1 hour before the park opened at 9am. Walked around a bit and they let us know we could go in early at 8:30 to Harry Potter...More
My experience there was amazing. The rides are very cool. The drinks and food there are too. They sell big donuts and bigger food. You can also go inside little parks that show how movies are made and king Kong as well.
Universal Studios Hollywood is much smaller, with less attractions, than Universal Studios Orlando...but it's still a great time. We really enjoyed the Backlot Tour and Harry Potter (though really doesn't compare to the Harry Potter in Orlando). We upgraded to the Universal Express which was...More
There's a great ambiance at the theme park, between Hogsmeade (Harry Potter) and Springfield (The Simpsons) that includes places to eat, shop and explore, as well as the rides. The studio tour is a lot of fun, and each go is unique thanks to the...More
I really enjoyed the Universal Studios tour and the 3 live shows (stunt, animal, special effects). The 2 roller coasters were fine but not exceptional. This is not the place to go for coasters. I am not a far of the virtual rides that stay...More

Overpriced and disappointing. Studio tour was good, but that is about it. Jurassic Park theme ride was closed. Waterworld theme ride, closed and so was Despicable Me. But these people are still quick to take your money, 200 Australian dollars. I have never been to...More
I had a gr8 Time there, but it’s kinda small! U can do everything in like 6- 6.5 hours. The Harry Potter ride was the best of all! The 1 thing I hated was there was no refill on sodas @ any of the dining...More

I was there a few weeks ago & bought the Express ticket. If I had it to over again, I’d save my money. The lines this time of year weren’t bad at all & I’d recommend heading to the Studio Tour line first thing in the morning. You should be able to board right away.
We're coming for 3 days 18-21 Dec. Want to see Universal Studios/Hollywood Walk of Fame/Grauman etc. but have tckts to see basketball game at StaplesCentre. Should we stay Downtown and travel to Hollywood each day or stay in Hollywood & take one-off trip to Staples Centre? Based on yr answer, need a hotel. Either 3 of us in one room (2 queens & 1 roll away) or two rooms but budget is $400-$450 for 3 days. We have a car. Do you envisage being able to drive around for sightseeing,...More

We are going to the same attractions. We decided to stay in Hollywood.
Thanksgiving day at Universal Studios Hollywood. (2 Replies)
We are going to be in L.A. over the week of thanksgiving. We are trying to plan what activities we are going to be doing each day. When I booked the holiday I totally forgot that the week is thanksgiving so I kinda goofed on that as I don't like going to these places during very busy times. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows about or has been to Universal Studios on Thanksgiving day. I am wondering if it is insane and we should stay away. I can't seem to find information specifically...More

I'd be interested in the answer to this question as well, generally, but don't most Americans spend Thanksgiving at home with family stuffing themselves with food and watching football? Therefore making somewhere like a theme park less busy than usual?
Rotorua, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
Trip to California Sept 2015- where should we go? (10 Replies)
So confused. I am planning a family trip for next year. Family of 5- kids will be 11, 15 and 17. Definitely want to do L.A.- Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood etc but don't know what else to add on. We would have about 10- 12 days before flying to Hawaii for a week. Unsure whether to add one city- San Fran; Las Vegas or San Diego/ Tijuana day visit. We like to do busy things- theme parks, shopping etc rather than relaxing on a beach (save that for Hawaii). Not sure whether to hire a...More

Hi With such a limited period of time, I recommend not choosing too many places. You already have two on your list: Los Angeles and Anaheim (the city where Disneyland is located.) If you're visiting Disneyland & California Adventure with the popular 3 Day ParkHopper ticket, that's more time in Anaheim. Las Vegas is possible with kids, but it's not a family-centric vacation destination. The Top Questions on the right side of the page has oodles of information for visitors....More
