LA hop on/hop off bus tour:
Booked online + discovered no full schedule detailing specific stop locations or times could be found on the website. There are google maps links, however for many tourists relying on wifi, this isn't always helpful. There is no specific signage at the stops, so hard to be sure you're in the right place.
I missed the bus near my first hop-on point for the day as I did not know when it would arrive, so walked to another stop instead. Once on the bus, I was given a pamphlet with specific times and stop details - this would be very helpful on the website.
The tour itself was fine, some interesting details in the audio and a much better option than self-driving or uber around LA for someone who wants to only see certain things or just drive past. They are the only company with a stop near my accommodation & this was the selling point for me compared to another competing company. Drivers were friendly and helpful, and the buses were not very full so I was able to enjoy the peaceful drive.
Wear sunscreen and a hat, and bring a jacket as it gets cold and windy upstairs!

Did the Hop On / Hop Off bus. On a previous visit, had used a similar tour company. Not sure that we fully “got” the Starline experience. We took a bus from the Chinese Theatre and went through most of Hollywood and very briefly through Beverly Hills (never seeing Rodeo Drive except at an intersection). We saw where we could change buses and go out to the beach, etc. On a previous visit, we went into the hills, saw celeb houses, drove around in Hollywood seeing the Capitol Recording studio, and also Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. It’s my bad, I should have read and studied up on this beforehand - but the bus we took as sort of bland

We were in an open truck with very comfortable seats. Everyone gets a headset to hear the guide. Perhaps because we were at the back of the truck, we found that 2 hours was a little too long as we got motion sick. However, it was on a cold day as well. If it had been a hot day, it might have been different. Overall, a great tour.

We did the Los Angeles and Hollywood bus tour with Airport Hotel pick-up. We stayed at Airport Marriott (Very Nice Hotel,) called Starline the night before, and requested a pickup for the tour. They were exactly on time, took us to a nearby location for the start of our tour where we paid for the tour and used restroom, then boarded our tour bus with Disco Danny as our driver/tour guide. He took us up through Marina del Rey, Santa Monica Pier, Viewed some LA sights, Venice Beach (We got out for a boardwalk stroll,) then on through Beverly Hills, and into Hollywood where we got out for a long stroll up and down Hollywood Blvd. with time for shopping and pictures of some of the sights. Our last stop was "The Farmers Market" which had nothing to do with either any Farmers or any Markets. It was a giant outdoor shopping mall (Disappointing.) We had to find a restaurant that could feed us in 40 minutes which was a real chore. We ate at Marmalade Cafe (near the entrance,) and found it to be good food at a reasonable L.A. price. Danny gave us good tips and info along the way. It was great not to be driving (we rented a car the day before, and spent much of the day in Freeway traffic.) Overall I would recommend this to anyone visiting L.A.

Starline offers various options of city tours. We took ``Grand tour of Los Angeles`` 79 $ per person. Good thing they pick us up from our hotel in LAX (airport) area. Tourist to LA if going for the first time, I recommend they should take a hotel at LAX from where Starline pick you up, take starline tours that you find interested to you. It will save you lots of time and unnecessary efforts.
It was a pleasant day on 23rd Dec. We were 9 tourists on the coach. Our guide was Jack, a very knowledgeable person explained us the whole city very well. Our tour lasted for about 8 hours. We went from beaches to Beverly Hill to Hollywood area and then to downtown and china town. Very good experience we had and think it is a worthy tour.
Only one observation i had that i did not like, the coach has a notice suggesting 20% tips. Tips should be our decision how much should we consider

Starline haven't acknowledged my direct complaint, so here's a public review. We booked the City Tour by Night, a 4 hour sunset tour.
The tour was due to start at 18.00 and the tour guide came at 18.20. We had asked your staff, but they said that the tour guide liked to do his own thing and we needed to be patient. The first 15mins were spent chatting at the stop on things we had already seen and 10mins for a loo stop - we’d all gone already, knowing we’d be on a bus tour. Someone complained and the guide took us to the bus. We drove for 20mins to the Farmer’s Market and were dropped, told that we had an hour to ourselves - no guide, no tour. We said this was not in the programme of the tour. When the hour was up, we took a very quiet and uninspiring route, he pointed out hospitals we passed, eventually getting on the Freeway and heading up to the Griffith Observatory. At the Observatory, the published tour highlight, we were told that we only had 5mins to take some outside photos, because we were running late. We’d saved this tour for the last night of our trip for the Observatory. Such a disappointment. We did point this out to the guide. As I say, he was very kind, but we didn’t see or learn anything on your tour and feel that it was incredibly badly advertised - we would have loved to have done the tour we booked.
What was planned as the highlight of our visit to LA (we live in England), felt like a waste of our evening and a complete waste of the $98 (each) ticket price.

For a family of 4 visiting Los Angeles on vacation, we spent $156 total to ride on the Starline Tours bus. It was a terrible experience and a waste of money. For the amount of money we spent, we expected a live tour guide who would provide information and stories about the areas we were seeing around Los Angeles. Instead, we got a bus ride. And the driver was awful; she hit the gas and hit the brakes repeatedly and we felt jostled around. Here's the thing - there are earbud ports near each seat and if you plug in you'll hear a pre-recorded voice giving information about landmarks and areas around town as you ride the bus. But our bus driver did not tell us this, so we didn't have any earbuds. We only found out later, after we had hopped off and hopped back on with a different bus driver, that they provide free earbuds. Even if we had known about the earbuds right away, the experience as a whole was so disappointing. For what you get, I would expect the price to be around $20. Do not waste your money on this.

Go on any other hop on tour in LA and I’m sure you’ll be fine. This is the email I wrote the company; To be honest, it wasn’t great. The gentleman that drove us out to the coast (yellow line around 12? Idk) didn’t stop anywhere?! I had to ask him to please stop at the second beach stop. He ran several totally red lights and I was honestly scared. I know my 12 year old was too. To make matters worse- the busses ran like 40 minutes late and it was impossible to time anything. Our headphones worked half of the time. This isn’t the first hop On I’ve done with your company but with other games in town it’s probably the last :/

But there isn’t any guarantee of any of it so I guess we are out of luck. Don’t make the same mistake.

When I went to California in February 2020 we used star line tours and they were fantastic.

So when I knew I was returning in 2021 I thought I wanted to go back and use starline tours. Unfortunately due to the pandemic we had to cancel our whole trip and we got all our money back for all the other companies we used but not starline tours. They have only replied to one of the emails I have sent in October 2020. Since then I’ve been emailing every month asking when will we receive our refund and I’ve had no reply.

I’m disappointed as the service we used the previous year was fantastic but this time not good.

I have used this company in other cities around the world and have thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the information provided. Unfortunately, the Hollywood version lets the company down.
Firstly though, it is a great way to cover a lot of distance in a city where you don’t have a car. That was the best thing about it.
The pre-recorded information is not up to date. Eg. Showing us Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant that was actually closed down 2 years ago. Telling us about Shirley Temple and other very old stars that I have barely heard of, let alone my teenage son. How about talking about the latest reality stars and latest hot spots on Tik Tok. I would mean researching constantly and recording every 6 months, but it would make it so much more interesting!
Also, when we transferred from one bus to the other, our driver told us the second bus would be there in 10 minutes. He didn’t turn up for 45 minutes. No place to shelter in the hot Sun.
Overall, although we covered a lot of mileage, I thought the commentary could have been so much more interesting and up to date. Sadly I would not recommend this tour company to anyone.
