This is a closed military base where everyone must present a military id card to enter. There are two ways around this. If you have a sponser and with two forms of indetification you can get a pass in the visitor center for that day....More

One of my favorite bases to visit because I get to go to piano beach on the way there. Make sure you stop at the visitor center if you don't all have military id in the vehicle. More strict over here about getting a pass...More

I can't say any more; I've already said way too much. Well...okay, maybe a bit more. I used to be able to get access when I was a military reservist, whereas now I can only ogle from the outside as a civie. But things are...More

Absolutely the cleanest, landscaped, new buildings. Well planned out base and gorgeous beach all 42 miles of it. Will be the best assignment ever

This is probably not fair but it gripes me that we have this massive base just north of us and there seems no way for the average Joe to get a tour or even information. We approached the base when we saw a large sign...More

Vandenberg media representatives are always very friendly and helpful. It's a missile base so visitation is with a guide but great if you have the proper clearances.

From your hotel you can see the rocket launches. Vandenberg's military service started in 1941 as an Army training center called Camp Cooke.

Our 4th annual VIP Tour of the base was sensational, the best yet. This is the day before the Exotic Car Show. Everyone on the base treated our group like VIPs. Dinner at the Pacific Club, steak and salmon, was outstanding and BBQ lunch at...More

Vandenberg AFB is a military base. More, it is a "closed" military base. Which means that you need a "sponsor' before you are allowed inside. I was lucky to be there for work (rocket launch) and had (almost) unlimited access to the facility. It is...More

Since you are kept at least five miles from the launch site, you might not feel the rumble as much as you would like. There's a great view from the Episcopal Church parking lot on Harris Grade and highway 1. If you can get... More
