I love Fort Tejon Park and stop when I can. First, it's arranged with historical buildings intact and second it's dog-friendly. Pay for what you use, there is a fee and worth it for a good walking experience in the middle of a long drive.

We stopped here to break our journey from Paso Robles to L.A I found the history quite interesting and the set-up of displays very nice. Small, so didn't take long to walk through.
