Please stay away from the edge. If you look at the cliff line, the edge is just hanging in the air in many places. So many people fall to their doom. Take the trails to the beach instead. Nine emergency vehicles arrived, while I was there.

If you're in La Jolla and it's a beautiful day, you really don't want to pass the opportunity to visit the Torrey Pines Gliderport. It may not be the most accessible, or easy-to-find place, but the views there, especially in the afternoon, are breathtaking. When the paragliders are in the air, it seems as if they can actually touch the... More

Not much to do at the Gliderport but watch and take pictures. I found the scenery with the gliders made good photographs. They do give instructions and tandem rides if you are into jumping off a cliff with a stranger. There is a beach nearby but it must be 500 steps down to the beach.

This is one of the jewels of San Diego. It's a must do. Awesome views perched atop a 300 foot grassy Mesa that overlooks one of the most iconic beaches in California.... Blacks Beach: A clothing optional beach that just happens to be one of the prettiest beaches on the planet. You can simply eat at the great outdoor cafe... More

I haven't "flown", but the Gliderport is a fun place to visit, grab a sandwich and watch the people there tempt fate.

My wife did the hangliding and was an experience she will never forget. Said it was the closest thing to actually being a bird. Got to sore up and down the cliffs diving in and out of the coves. Check with the school before heading up there as you do need a steady on shore breeze for parasending and at... More

Always a unique and amazing experience to head out to the GliderPort and overlook the Pacific while watching intrepid pilots skim the cliffs.

If you're beached out, spa'd out, done with shopping, and had enough of fine dining....but still can't get enough of San Diego's fabulous weather....then this is the place to come. Kick back with a basket of fries or something else yummy and caloric from the cafe, and spend the afternoon watching gliders take off and soar over the beautiful Pacific.... More
