We have been several times but this time it was super active with the lawn so crowded we weren't sure how they weren't running into each other. The snack bar is basic and closes early but you aren't there for the food.

I hadn't seen this in years and it's a must see! I haven't done it myself. People are learning to fly on their own and lots of people are going with trained pilots. You walk off the cliff, but glide up the coast and land...More

Was very nervous. Afraid of heights, get motion sickness on a swing, and had to wait for a few hours for the wind to pick up before it was my turn....which left more than enough time to get even more nervous. But when the time...More

I think this is one of San Diego's best spots. Watching the gliders is so relaxing. And the view is spectacular. Walk out to the south of the gliderport and you will often spot dolphins in the water below. Look north and you can see...More

It was an experience to watch the different types of para-gliders in action. Great patio setup for people to sit and watch, while enjoying some food and beverages.

The Gliderport is a great spot to sit, relax, and enjoy the beautiful coastal views as the vibrant colors of the hang gliders speckle the clear blue sky. We came with a group including small children, and we all loved watching up close as the...More

This really is a unique experience on the West Coast and I highly recommend it. I have taken many friends there and they have all gone home with great memories and video (a slight cost extra) to memorialize their adventure. For myself, I am too...More

We went to watch the gliders. We picked up some snacks at the stand and enjoyed ourselves for over an hour. Plenty of parking. Very nice people.

Experienced tandem paragliding for the first time. Had an amazing pilot (Ki) who made this sort of nerve wrenching experience a memorable one. He even took some selfies of us at about 2000 feet. I recommend this endeavor as it’s safe and fun. The landscape...More

I often park here and walk down the steep hill to Blacks Beach. There are not a lot people there so not a crowed place. The glider port is great to watch as kites circle the area.

Some might, I sure didn't! It was very quiet and peaceful! That said, if you have any fear of heights I'd opt out. Pacific Ocean is 350 feet from where you take off and you're sail much, much higher than that!

Yes, you need to book in advance but I am sure there is sometimes a possibility to be spontaneous and book on site. Call in advance and check.
