The building is a wonder to see, but the snake part leading to it is even better. Take the time to walk the path and enjoy being in another world for awhile.

Walk all around the outside to see this stunning library from all angles, rising above the landscape and nestled into the ground, either tree-like or cave-like. Artworks surround it. Notice the metal tree, the snake walk, the sun goddess, and the inspirational message. The interior...More

Located in the centre of the UCSD campus you have to marvel at the architecture, the glass walls reflect the sky giving the appearance that the concrete floors are floating. You can enter as a visitor and didn't need any special passes. On the ground...More

This building was probably the highlight of our UCSD tour and when I think of UCSD, this building is the image that pops into my mind.

It does have something. As soon as you see the building of the library with its rugged, industrial and raw looks it captures you. Mind you, if you go on a hot sunny day like we did there is an added feeling of this, as...More

This main library on the UCSD campusis inspiring indoors and out. In addition to the books and periodicals you'll find artwork in the main lobby. Outdoors beware of fast skateboarders, but do look for the talking tree that's part of the Stuart art collection spread...More

This was one of the first, and certainly most, distinctive structures build at the University of California, San Diego. It 'officially' opened in 1970 but it was in use when I started my tenure at UCSD in 1968. It is frequently used advertising material and...More

I found visiting Geisel Library on the UC San Diego campus to be a most worthwhile investment of my vacation time. As an architecture buff, I think it is a wonderful example of brutalist style, which I generally dislike. This library, however, shows off more...More
