We just happened to go here after the Veterans Day parade in downtown San Diego.. We didn't realize there was a Veterans Day ceremony here in the afternoon also. The ceremony was outstanding as was Mount Soledad. The view from here is outstanding. You can...More

Mount Soledad affords the visitor fabulous vistas of San Diego, but so much more. The veterans' memorial commemorates the service of so many veterans, some who returned and others who gave their lives. The pictures and text about the various veterans makes the memorial extremely...More

Great view. Better around sunset time. Place for public and free parking lot. Avoid the traffic time between 4pm to 6pm.

I read about Mt. Soledad, while doing my travel research and it sounded interesting. A very unique memorial, on a hill, with beautiful views of the coastline. Definitely worth a quick stop.

The view is more impressive than Mt. Helix because you can see up and down both coast lines. Choose a clear, sunny day or maybe after a rain. Don't forget your camera. It's well worth your time ... even if you're a native.

The slope up is pretty gentle and yes, it is accessible from all 360 degrees, however there are stairs to get to the foot of the cross itself. You wont be disappointed tho, its breathtaking
