If you been to Africa or are only thinking about it visit Africa and Beyond. They've been in business for over 25 years. The owner is from Zimbabwe. He and his wife make two trips a year to Africa to purchase items for the store. Quality, variety and uniqueness is there speciality. You can find a small ring or a large carving and everything in between. The store isn't large but it is packed with enticing and intriguing items. Once inside you'll want to go back to Africa and make that first trip.

La Jolla is known for its upscale living and shopping. This place is not to be missed. Beautiful jewelry, artifacts from Africa, and great staff. The owner, Julie is great and can tell you all about the artifacts they buy on their trips to Africa. Great taste whether it is a hand made basket or a tribal treasure. My wife found two pairs of beautiful earrings and the artist that made them, (Lilianne Cartwright?) was working in the store. Both Lilianne and Julie were great and showed us a lot of personal attention.

Dear Victor, It was lovely to meet you and your wife. We are extremely fortunate to be able to travel to Africa and collect beautiful art and jewelry from talented artisans, and then to be able to share our finds with appreciative and enthusiastic people such as yourselves is indeed gratifying! We look forward to seeing you next time you are in La Jolla.

This place has museum-quality items from Africa, all for sale. The jewelry is especially beautiful, but you never know what you will find.

It was great to meet you and your family. We enjoyed working with you, and finding the perfect pieces for your space. Thank you so much for emailing us pictures of how it looks in your home. I am so glad to acquired the pair of Ibeji twins, which are especially significant since you have twins yourself! Thanks so much, and enjoy! Ian Allen

I read about this store on Trip Advisor. I collect vintage African art, and made a point to stop by. The store has a superb collection, including many items I had not seen before. The owner is knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Prices are reasonable and the quality of the artwork is extremely high. Definitely stop by if you appreciate African tribal art.

Thank you so much for this positive review. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be able to offer the vast array of authentic one-of-a-kind artifacts that we have on offer. Even though we return to Africa every year on buying excursions, we do not find many of the older traditional artifacts there anymore. We are acquiring most of our pieces from reputable old collections, and museum deaccessions. Most of the work we do in Africa today is through fair trade projects, or working one-on-one with contemporary artists. Our true love though remains the traditional arts, and we are gratified to share this with people like you who appreciate it so much too.

This is a gem in the village of la JOLLA , the owner travels to Africa often to select good quality artifacts and jewelry that you won't find elsewhere. Well worth a visit if you're looking for unusual gifts, art and African fabrics and sculptures.
