I have been a subscriber for many years. I love going there because it's so convenient and has lots of parking. You have to be prepared for some very unusual plays as they select "out of the box." It boasts of its big hit Jersey Boys.

The venue is exquisite, fantastic stagecraft and Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin was pure genius and after following his career this is his best performance. All the staff were very helpful and the service was great, parking was free and a golf cart ride from the lot was a nice touch. If you are planning on a visit to La... More

Incredible Irving Berlin is wonderfully inhabited by Hershey Felder. A stunning heartfelt presentation of the man and his music. Perfect holiday treat with White Christmas and a Christmas setting on stage. A must see during the short run. Includes moments of emotional tearful sing alongs of iconic songs of America.

The La Jolla Playhouse offers world premiers that often make it to Broadway--I have seen most of them. I am a season subscriber and often go to Talkback Tuesdays where you get to talk to and ask questions of the cast members after the show. They also offer comedy, drama, and musicals--such is the diversity. Plenty of parking--no payment required... More

I've seen a few productions at the La Jolla Playhouse and it's just big enough to feel intimate, but not tiny. I have found the lighting and the acoustics are good from most seats in the Playhouse, but that might just be the expertise of the staff. It's a great place to local productions.

Always innovative. Exceptionally well produced. Extremely interesting. Hard to imagine why there aren't lines a mile long for the Playhouse productions. You get to see art being born!

Short walk from the parking area. Theater staff are outside the buildings to help you find the correct theater (there are 3). Seats are comfortable, with good views of the stage. Professional actors, excellent productions.

"Page to Stage" offers audiences the rare opportunity to experience the birth of a play. Hundreds of plays have been presented since 1947. Check the schedule and catch a future play.

Set you imagination to the unexpected. Stay open to new ideas and seek new experiences. That's the best way to approach this theater. The setting is ideal...on the grounds of UCSD. Recently, we saw a new play...several years in the making...but so timely. Blueprints to Freedom is one of those plays that catches you off guard. The acting remarkable, poignant,... More

The La Jolla Playhouse has gone through many iterations, starting at La Jolla High School by Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire, and Mel Ferrer in 1947. It entered its prime years under the direction of Artistic Director Des McAnuff who developed and brought exciting works to the Playhouse including several plays which went to Broadway Including "The Who" and "Jersey Boys"....
