Enjoying San Diego's perfect climate means adopting a beach life-style and exploring the magnificent Pacific Ocean Coast. There's no better way to do it than in a kayak! In a single tour you will experience southern California's surf culture, observe several species of marine animals, and visit 4 different marine environments: sandy beach, rocky coast, kelp forest, and open ocean - each with it's unique characteristics and wildlife viewing opportunities. Come see the Sea Lions, Leopard Sharks, Pelicans, Cormorants... and of course, the Caves! While our ultimate destination is the magnificent sea caves that the ocean has carved from ancient cliffs, the true beauty of the area is all around the caves. Please don't have your heart set on entering the caves as this is not always safe to do. Instead, open your eyes to the details around you and you will never be disappointed! We use stable sit-on-top kayaks that are very user friendly and no previous experience is required.

Our guides Ciryl and Josh were fantastic. From the introduction, and pre trip safety session, (Ciryl remembered everyone's names!), to the final instruction on getting to shore safely they had everything covered. Ciryl is a perfect combination of historian, teacher, and comedian - Josh was...More

Marley was a great guide--upbeat, knowledgable, and fun! Even though the waves were pretty big (too big to go into the cave) we got a lot out of the tour--saw pelicans and cormorants, as well as a few sea lions. Marley told us a lot...More

Not a problem finding the office, warm welcome on arrival, very organized. Our guide was Chuck, who is experienced and brings you into his energy of enthusiasm and gives you a very simple overview of sea kayak basics (different than lake kayaking!). Chuck also knows...More

We went on an awesome afternoon kayak tour led by Cyril. He was an expert instructor, learned everyone's names and gave great tips prior to paddling out to keep us from tipping. We've lived in the area for over a decade and get in the...More

Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the tour of the cove by kayak with my son. We even got to go into a cave. No experience necessary, we got a lesson on the beach. Perfect activity with my 12 year old son!

Dear Diane, Thank you for sharing your experience, and your disappointment too as it is important for all to understand that (as we clearly state on our website) the cave entry cannot be guaranteed. Safety comes always first, and obviously when the waves are braking...More

I read that the tour sees leopard sharks but in reading some of the reviews several customers mentioned seeing tiger sharks. Are they just confusing the names of the Sharks or have tiger sharks regularly been seen?

Hi, Not to worry, we do not have any Tiger sharks in La Jolla and this part of the Pacific Ocean. We only see Leopards, Soup Fins and very rarely a few Seven Gills sharks in the area. Dominick.

Can we go into the caves on our own or do we have to be accompanied by a guided tour?

Hi, You may choose to rent a kayak and go on your own, in which case you can go TO the caves but cannot enter the cave (we enter one cave only, even on a tour, and only if it is safe to do so). Please let me know if you have... More
