My second favorite beach in San Diego County, this beach is absolute perfection to both view or swim.

I've been in Windansea Beach half an hour before sunset. Surfers were still in water, trying to surf the last waves of the day; some people gathered on the road side or on the rocks to enjoy the sight of the sunset in the Pacific...More

Sit on a bench or go down the stairs to find a spot on the rocks and watch the sun go down. You'll have lots of company.

The rugged rocks of the winter beach are covered with sand in the summer for great hanging out. But the real attractions here are: the huge pounding waves; watching the surfers; the gloriously photogenic tiki hut "palapa"; and the lovely sunsets. I don't personally choose...More

Very nice beach. Sand was clean and there was a good surf so there were a lot of surfers to watch. Nice mixed crowd. Better parking and access than we expected for a beach in such a populated area..

This place makes you feel like your in an exotic location. This is a great spot to surf, but it does have a little bit of localism (just don't snake people). Clear waters, incredible views, and a fun shore break.

A tropical style beach in the US. Tried surfing ...hung out with friends....soaked up the sun. Relaxing place - mixed bag of people ...cant wait to go back. Took I'm a concert after - lots to do in the area! Viva Cali!

I get to walk by this beautiful setting for the next few months and it is worth every penny it took to do so! Watch your ankles, though. Some of the locals are ankle biters!

This is one of the most beautiful spots in the world! Come to see why the Beach Boys mentioned this spot in their song!

How is swimming here in mid-June? (I am an experienced swimmer and also know this is not Hawaii and the water will be cool).

It'll be fantastic. We were there over New Year's, & while we didn't have an interest in braving really cold water, there were plenty of surfers and swimmers wearing wetsuits in the surf. June is perfect for most.
Are there any hotels located close by or on the beach?
