1000 waterfalls

Beautiful nature hike throughout the national park. Amazing shengataki waterfalls - translates to 1000 waterfalls...that's about how many you'll see along this beautiful trail.

If walking from Naka-Karuizawa then it is worth the time, noting that the walk is not difficult for the average walker. The falls were flowing plentifully after a recent typhoon.

Worth a stop if you have a car otherwise can be a bit out of the way. We generally stop past once every trip as on the way to horse riding lessons in Kita Karuizawa.

peaceful and cool. Nice to visit in the hot summer. Not too crowded either. You don't need a lot of time.

A picturesque waterfall recessed into a small valley the water cascades into a narrow pool that flows down past a series of larger pools built to stall the water speed. You will walk past some of these as make your way about 1km from the bike/car park up to the waterfall. You really won't notice the construction because nature reasserted... More
