I came across Jonathan in the web while looking at sites pertaining to Pingyao. He arranged a driver for us (Mr. Guo). We booked transportation to and from Pingyao Gucheng Railway Station and a day trip with Jonathan. Visited Shuanglin Temple (beautiful old statues), Wang's Family Courtyard (which was huge) and Zhangbi Castle and its Underground Tunnels (amazing and well planned maze of tunnels). Stayed within the ancient walled city. Great service and appropriately priced. Enjoyed it.

We found Jonathan on the web and arranged to meet his guide and driver in Datong. We were taken to see the sights,including the Yungang Caves, and next day we travelled to Pingyao via Hanging Temple and the Quio Family courtyard. Following day we travelled with Jonathan and the driver to other fascinating historic sites outside Pingyao. We then had a day to explore Pingyao on foot by ourselves before Jonathan, and the driver (Mr Ho) picked us up at 0515am for a 90 minute drive to the Taiyuan airport for our international flight. At all times this service was prompt, safe, friendly and efficient. Our enjoyment and understanding of Chinese culture in general, and Shanxi Provence in particular, was greatly enhanced by Jonathan's service. Fantastic value for the money we paid.

Jonathan and his wife provided us a wonderful service. They were really friendly and helpful and guided us to visit the beautiful city of Pingyao. We spent just 24 hours in the city but thanks to the help of Jonathan and the hotel and restaurants he suggested us it was a really nice day. Highly recommended !

Jonathan introduced us to Verena as a guide in Pingyao. Verena was able to answer all kinds of questions and read every wish from our lips. She has the city, temples, kung-fu schools and was able to explain the life of the inhabitants wonderfully. Verena's English was excellent.

we used Jonathan service for a car rental for Mianshan and Zhangby village day tour from Pingyao clean car on time for pick up , excellent driver with very very good driving skill help us at every stop for ticket and entrance very please with the service and quick response from Jonathan at our email thank you

Our guide Jonathan met my wife and I at the Pingyao train station. We were transported to our hotel, the Yide which was in a perfect location in the Old Town. Jonathan spent the afternoon showing us the sites in Pingyao. He is extremely knowledgeable and allowed us some down time in the afternoons. Jonathan also accompanied us to the Wang Family Court Yard located several kilometers outside of Pingyao. Jonathan went the extra mile for us allowing me time to snap photos and answering our questions. For meals Jonathan selected outstanding restaurants with delicious Chinese cuisine. We would highly recommend Jonathan as a tour guide.

We spent a couple of days in Pingyao on our 3 weeks trip in china, because we wanted to visit the Mian Mountain. We scheduled the visit with Jonathan, the owner of Red Plum Travel. As the mountain is huge with many spots to visit he has been very helpful proposing a couple of circuits to choose. Finally our guide was Verena that came with a beautiful VAN with driver to pick us (we were 5) at our hotel in Pingyao.
Verena managed to get the car inside the scenic area, what saved us much time from using the public bus to move between the spots.
What to say about the visit? Views are breathtaking and Verena knew a lot of history from every single site. We visited Taoist and Buddhist temples, but also amazing nature spots. Verena also arranged a wonderful lunch for us in one of the hotels inside the mountain. They gave us all the time we needed on any of the atracttions with no rush, so we enjoyed them as much as we wanted.
I will highly recommend to hire their services for whatever activity in the area.

Thanks for choosing our service and your nice review. Verena is the best guide in our group, and she is very experienced guide too. Becaues of Mianshan is big with many stops, you need the good guide with you to visit the real highlights there, so it is necessary to visit Mianshan with guide. About the van we used, it is the Buick GL8, it is comfortable and good qulity. As we said We always Focus on Your Traveling Experience.

Perhaps the highlight of our month in China, this fantastic temple complex carved into the side of a mountain. Without Jonathan we would have wasted half a day navigating around all the sights up there, so as independent travellers it was a very wise, if last minute, decision to hire him. He gave us further insight into China which was a bonus, speaking very good English indeed. Furthermore, when he discovered that our train from Pingyao was much later than we had requested from the train agent, he took me to the rail station after our agreed day trip was over, and swapped the tickets for a much better time. This cost him a further hour for which he wanted no payment. This is going the extra mile!

Can't say enough of this lovely town. As usual, China Highlights assigned us a superb tour guide, Verena, who spoke excellent English and knew the city super well, since she grew up there. We stayed at Jing's Residence, a boutique hotel that is a must if you are spending the night there. Our experience in Pingyao could not have been better!

Jonathan arranged an excellent driver for a very long day. He pick us up at the Datong airport at 8:30 am, visited Yungang cave, hanging temple and the wooden pagoda and then drive to Pingyao. The day before there was a snow storm in Datong, Jonathan was really worried about our safety, he sent me a wechat message at night to be certain if we are save at the Pingyao hotel. I strong recommend his services!!! And the price is good.
